    Alonzo Gee...

Funny stuff. Morey went after this guy about 2 years ago in free agency. Well.... Morey... you got your guy.

Wouldn't be shocked if they keep him and save his contract for trade purposes. The Rockets need mid sized contracts to get deals done & the fact that its non-guaranteed helps.

In the meantime, he's a decent backup for Ariza. Good defender at least. Might look better in a better situation in Houston (well... lets hope its a better situation next year. I'm thinking the locker room might be a bit contentious after the way this Summer has gone thus far).

On the surface having more money in the form of multiple exceptions etc.. may seem like a good thing in trying to build a bench in order to improve our team. However, my understanding of this scenario is that it limits the amount that can be spent on a player at the 8.5 million trade exception. When you look at a teams true level of potential success it lies in their playoff rotation ( outside of 1 or 2 teams that play 10 deep) that means the Rockets should focus on getting the best 8-9 players possible. The best player left on the open market is Lance Stephenson who has been lowballed by the Pacers. He can choose for himself which team to go to and the Pacers likely will facilitate a S and T in order not to lose him for nothing, but we need to be able to offer him about 10-12 million at least for him to consider coming here. He will find a spot in the rotation and can definitely play 30 minutes a game if harden can run the point... Stephenson can even guard the opposing point guard. Does our signing Ariza in this way prevent us from offering the money needed to sign Stephenson ? If so I think signing him this way is a huge mistake.

I think it is important to note Chandler Parson's weaknesses in the half court game.

Ariza is a better shooter, and a better defender by miles.

You have two superstars, and quite frankly, that is enough.

This team is better with Ariza starting. Fill with shooters, and a backup big that has the ability to pass and this team will be improved.

Parsons was every bit as bad as Harden was on defense. And it hurt the Rockets tremendously in the playoffs.

Houston wasn't winning championships with Parsons in the lineup with Harden. It just wasn't happening.

Alonzo Gee would be a decent back up for Ariza. Play pretty good D.

I need someone to clarify: are we still using capspace to take on Ariza or is it with something else? If we are using capspace, then why the hell didn't we just outright sign him? I thought we used the Lin TPE to get him.
