huh??? no..israel was targetting hamas leaders...there was collateral damage, no doubt...i'm not defending israel here at all, but their motives are ENTIRELY different than groups who put bombs on school buses to blow up little kids...or who blow up malls, making sure to amplify collateral damage in areas where lots of people will be. there is a big distinction there.
MacBeth, Just go away. We are talking about Israel, and you come in here to derail the thread and toss around your mindless anti US dribble. I don't have anyone on my ignore list, but you are getting REALLY REALLY close. All of those things happened in the past and how is that relevant to a discussion about the morons in Israel who are blowing up civilians during peace talks....oh, that's right...it isn't. Go AWAY...NOW !!! DD
MacBeth - you really enjoy talking in terms of absolutes, don't you? something i've noticed...i don't mean that to be offensive...you're more intelligent than i am, no doubt. much more well-read.
Blaze, Thanks for jumping in on something that is none of your business. It was very helpful. The bottom line is that I enjoy Macbeth's posts for the most part, but when he comes in and derails a thread by posting his Anti - USA crap, over and over again, it is annoying. We are talking about how incredibly STUPID it is for Israel to launch missiles at a car on a crowded street, just as they are entering serious peace talks. DD
I'm mindless? A sample of thoughts..." The war is over. We won. Move on, nothing to see here." DD...heat...kitchen.... I am dissapointed in your reaction...I have never agreed with your stance, phrasing, thinking, attitude or philosophy about the war, but on the other hand I have never gotten personal with you, or denied your right to express your views.... Do as you see fit. Our ( US) history is relevant when among the first statemnts as reactions to this were what US attitude should be towards Israel etc. by virtue of these actions...
No, But your constantly posting Anti-US rhetoric is mindless. Since the thread is about Israel and it's attack on Hamas, where in your post do you even discuss anything about the thread topic? You are in plenty of other posts bashing the USA, no need to come in here and continue it. You are quickly becoming like Chicken Little, watch out, the sky is falling. DD
How many times does Israel have to go WAY beyond what is necessary before people will understand that this type of move is a terrorist act. They knew what they were doing and were sending a message, this was a preplanned attack sent to kill one man. Firing seven missiles into a crowded street is not the way to take out one person. There is no way you can honestly defend this disgusting act.
Guess what? They're a bunch of f*cking liars, as well as a bunch of f*cking terrorists. Hamas' Charter
KingCheetah, I completely agree. Israel and Palastine are like 2 bad children, it is time for the US to pull back funding and let them both know that we will not stand for this type of behaviour. Israel is not helping matters, I have no problem with them assasinating Hamas leaders, but do it with a sniper, not attack helicopters. I am fairly certain the average palastinian on the street would not weep over a Hamas leader getting killed, but they will all remember the 8 year old girl who was killed. Terrible...just terrible. DD
The truth is that Israel doesn't want to go back to the 1967 borders because (1) if they did the narrowest part of Israel would be 10 miles wide and it would make Israel more vulnerable to attack and (2) Israel doesn't want the old city of Jerusalem to turn back into the pig-sty it was from 1948-1967 when Jordan occupied it. Why should the Jewish people stand for the desecration of some of the holiest spots in Judaism? This would be the same reaction from Muslims if Israel ever desecrated the Dome of the Rock.
Screw Israel. Let them take care of themselves. At least until they a new leader who is dedicatged to bringing peace to that area. Sharon is a mass murderer who should not be in power.
DD, take a look at some "average Palestinians": http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/030610/161/4cme3.html
Dome of the Rock is built on top of the Holiest site in all of Israel. The "wailing wall" or western wall is all that is left of the last temple and that is where the Mosque sits now. Inside is the rock where Muslims contend that Mohammed took-off for Heaven and contains the "holiest of Holies" for Jews where Abraham was sent by God to sacrifice his son...There is large Israeli movement to remove the Dome of the Rock. I, for one, hope they triumph and take back their birthright.
And don't do it on the eve of peace talks. What kind of message are they trying to send here? I don't begrudge Isreal taking steps to defend itself. I do question the timing and method of this attack.
Dudedakota, call MacB on derailing a thread if you want, fine... but take that stale, counterproductive "Anti-US rhetoric" label crap back to AM talk radio, m'kay? What MacBeth brings is thoughtful reflective US rhetoric. You may disagree with it, but god bless anyone who is willing to ask questions and look uncomfortable double-standards in the face. Our country has an oversupply of those who seek only to oversimplify, to shout down questions, and to bury their heads and pray for the recovery of their mutual funds.
I think your first option is to arrest him, if he is a direct threat to the safety of civilians then taking him out with a sniper would be the most intelligent thing to do. Just my opinion, but it appears Israel wants the Palestinians to fear them.
