Why lose one when you can keep both? You focus on what teams did to us, but Parsons had some impactful games. You gotta look at the other side!

This is not a bad deal.
Ariza was a knucklehead in his first stint with Rox. Was glad to see him go.

But he has improved to shoot 40% from 3pt range.
Who took the most 3's in the NBA and was in the middle of the pack for average? The Rockets.

With Howard & Harden attacking the paint, Ariza should be salivating right now.

I remember this game from last year. Ariza made about 7 3-pointers in a row in about a 5 minute span.
Let's hope he can rekindle that magic again in a Rox uni.

    1. Stretch 4/PF defender.
    2. Wing defender/3pt Shooter (CHECK).
    3. Back-up Center.
    4. PG upgrade.

When we started the off-season, these were the priorities I thought needed addressed. Missing on Bosh cost us #1, but there still may be a play for Morey. Picking up Ariza addresses #2. The rest are still up in the air. Let's see what happens tomorrow.

Well, good news this time around is he is not a first option.
His only shots will be corner threes and last second desperation threes after Harden passes to him with .9 seconds left on the shotclock. ;)

I disagree. Bosh would've been ideal, but Ariza is a good defender and improves the bench and/or we wouldn't have a major drop off with our starting unit from last year's. Also, defensively he's an upgrade to Parsons.

The Rockets is literally going backward regressing mode now, signing the super chucker Ariza again after knowing the first time didn't pan out. Morey must be really desperate about knowing he screwed up big time. Remember how he chucked shots after shots and when the shots are not going in, he tried to start a fight when being blown out by the then lowly Raptors? He was shipped out as soon as the trade window opened and lasted only one season last time (when he was supposed to be our future star from the Champ Lakers LOL) and now Morey pretend everyone forgot about his last stink and try to brainwash people to believe the same Ariza is our 3rd star LOL. I feel really sad when all other Rocket fans just drank the cool aid so sheepishly and passionately.

You all have some really selective memories... HA!

It would be a mistake not to, IMO.

your analysis is fair enough of that horrible season he had. but you do realize we had a different system then and he was I think supposed to be the 1/2 option on the team. Now he has had a few more years under his belt since 2009 ( 5 years) and is an accurate shooter 40% from 3..and will be the 3/4 option on our team it could be a different outcome.

not sure what your definition of super chucker is but he hit from 40% from 3 and had a higher catch and shoot % then parsons. yes he plays the same position as CP but do you want harden and CP playing 40+ min a game?

not much was out there given the bosh debacle. just because you see a player out there doesn't mean they would sign here (ie pierce signed the MLE to play for the wizards) so you can say WTF we should have signed pierce, but it takes the player to actually want to come here.

basically looking at the rotation so far we traded out LIN for Ariza.

Really a no lose situation. The cap is expected to keep increasing and at only 8 million a year, it is an easily movable contract if a star player becomes available. He also really helps the perimeter defense.

My guess is we match Parsons (another contract I think is movable) and try to deal for Ryan Anderson.

This past season was the 1st time Trevor has shot over 40% from 3 point distance in his life... Lol. And just the 2nd time he averaged 14 points a game in his career.

Defensively _ who is he shutting down in the east...??? The top 11 scoring teams are all in the west. And Washington is a good defensive team. They were ranked #9 this year and #8 last year ---> when Trevor was coming off the bench

We've seen Parsons play defense. Even seen him shut down point guards so we know he can. Parsons has transformed himself into a point forward, he's a better scorer, and can create his own shot... Trevor don't got it like that.

You should check Trevor's stats for the past few years [Band not just his contract year.[/B] That dude is subject to turn back into a pumpkin. Good thing they are bringing Parsons back.

I just have a hard time thinking Ariza signed his offer thinking he would come off the bench. He's expecting to start so we would be paying alot for Parsons.

yes. this is a great contract. very movable. you'll get some production and veteran experience at the very least.

One positive aspect of this signing is that we added another veteran other than Harden and Howard (and Beverley?). Having veterans on a playoff team is so underrated on this board.
