NO WAY we trade Mobley & Nachbar and our ONLY expiring contract for that malcontent wussy Spreewell. Let's see what these players do with Van Gumby before we trade away the house. DD
The Hawks no that are not going to win with him. They don't want his contract, but Robinson has only 2 years left on his contract?
remember Van Gundy is only the coach, he may want a few of these guys, doesn't mean Carroll Dawson and Les will let him get rid of the guys who's contracts are expiring. Doesn't make any sense to trade Glen Rice when you'll have 9 million freed up next year
I agree. That was an excellent article. I was picturing Shinn and Floyd in my mind and said out loud (to the eyebrow raised awe of my bypassing secretary), "Dumb and just inexplicably Dumber". LOL! I wouldn't mind Robinson so much if I could better envision where he'd be on the floor and when. Does he start? If so, who sits? Posey? EG? I have a hard time seeing Robinson's offensive contributions making up for the hustle we lose with Posey off the court or the weak-side shot blocking as a result of EG sitting on his butt. Pat Ewing working with Yao Ming on the lowblock could be good stuff, provided Pat is good at mentoring.
why would we want spree? boki has yet to prove himself, and cat is just as good, if not better than spree right now ... the guy makes little sense.
"Every coach brings something different to the table in the style of basketball they want to roll with," said Posey. "The guys on our team prefer a more up-tempo style and if we have to go half-court, then go half-court. But if we're more athletic, create a lot of energy, get up and if we can, get down the court, I think it will be to our advantage. But we'll have to see if that is what he'll want us to do." Posey must realize that in order to play a up-tempo style, you have to play defense. And you actually have to have a player(s) that understand how the run the fast break. It's not about just running real fast.
Glad u guys enjoyed the article. I agree with a lot of you that don't believe trading Boki would be a good idea @ all. Talk about giving up on a guy b/4 ever really giving him a chance. And to think about that possibility the thought of Nachbar turning into a stud for the Knicks, haunting the Rockets forever creeps in. So let's @ least give the kid a year -- which is what the plan was from the jump, right? (drafted him for 2003) -- and evaluate what he can do.
*lol* Damn, I just saw that. Lord knows, he BETTER be kidding. BTW -- how in the hell does a Tim Floyd get hired after compiling one of the worst coaching records in the history of the NBA while a guy like Paul Silas and Rick Carlisle get fired? And to replace Silas with[/] Floyd!! Ouch. Talk about things u never want to save in the ol' archives if your Paul.
Well Posey might start at 2 guard, Mobley comes off the bench if Robinson comes here and Posey would spell him at the 3. Seems like a great fit to me. The more I think of it the better that Robinson deal sounds
I agree with this analysis. The team is going to be evaluated before any moves get made. If a blockbuster talent is out there to be had (i.e. Brand) then I am sure CD will make the move but other than that I doubt there will be many moves. Perhaps Rice will be moved because of his expiring salary. I am sure the Rockets will look to add a few FA players to the team as well. As for Chad Ford's (ESPN Insider) trade ideas... I think he is just throwing stuff out there. Many months ago he mentioned the Rice for Robinson trade idea. I just don't see us doing that. Not sure Robinson fits on this team. I don't see us trading all of those players for Sprewell. I am not sure what that accomplishes. I just get the feeling that Van Gundy is going to want to coach the players on the team they have now to see what they have before he talks to CD and starts to want to make moves. That's why I think this summer will be important. Especially the summer league games.
I'm in the minority but I would do it. I like Cat but it's really obvious he and Stevie can't play together. As for Boki, I can honestly tell you I don't see him as very important to the team. For Othella I would rahter have him than Mo-T. I really don't like Mo-T and I don't think he will work in a defensive system. So I see Othella as an upgrade to Mo-T. Spree well he can still play. Plus he will speak his mind and may be able to assist Stevie. It always helps to have a couple players that understands a coachs system so if we can get Spree and Othella for Rice, Cat and Boki then I say do it.
The reason that trade makes no sense is that the Rockets would be dealing away all of their small forwards and two guards. Posey isn't under contract yet and even if he was, you are looking at then only 2 small forwards and one two guard with three power forwards. I definitely think that there is a possibility to move Rice because of his contract and the fact it will be done at the end of this coming season, but I just don't see them moving that many guys for so few returns at those positions.
I cannot believe that this stupid speculative report by an ESPN reporter who just want to fill up space and earn paycheck is making you guys wet your panties. Nonsense. Grow up guys and go read really journalists - those who write informative stuff rather than these misyarners.
Seems to me most fans will at least take a wait and see attitude before deciding if they are going to accept VG or not. To start out getting CD to trade some players away without them getting a chance to play his way, might help people make up their minds a little quicker. This is Houston, not NY west.
I like Sprewell and think he'd be good on the Rox. That said, Mobey and Rice's expiring contract is a little too much. Mobley and Rice are the two biggest trade commodities the Rox have and it should net more than just Spree. How about Mobley and Cato for Sprewell, re-sign Posey and move him to the 2, use Sprewell as a point forward and offer Elden Campbell some FA $ as Yao's backup? That still leaves you with Rice's expiring contract to bolster the team. Campbell can also play spot PF minutes. I realize I'm going to come across as a Mobley hater, but that's not true. I think Van Gundy will assess what he has before doing anything. And that's OK as well.
yup. Sam Smith is an idiot. Mobley & Nachbar have good contracts. Rice is going to be a hot commodity. Spreewell has a bad contract. Geeze, I can't believe he is that stupid.
