Rockets sign Trevor Ariza to 4-year, $32 million deal

Admittedly, it's not really huge news. But I think it's a good fit and gives us more depth.

That and the fact that it was only for ~8mil/year, and we should have more flexibility to make more moves after the Asik trade is finalized.

 

Don't look at the money....

I would really like to see Parsons take on the Manu/Crawford role.

Ariza doesn't fit off the bench, he's not a player you ask to create offense.
He fits perfectly with our starters.

As for Parsons, he will be the superstar like he is paid to be...but off the bench.
He will be asked to create, attack, and facilitate for our secondary.

 

Thanks for joining the cause! People don't get it! Parsons or nothing! There is no one else worth signing for 2 years anyway. It's Les's money, not ours! Sign everybody you can!

 

It's true we don't need to make any more moves to sign Parsons.

What we do need to do is to try to make as many of our 'bigger' moves before we match Parsons. That is why he said it was bad news that the Asik trade wasn't going to be completed until Money.

If the Asik trade was completed today, we would have a little bit of time to try to pull of another quality signing before matching Parsons.

If the Asik trade isn't completed until Monday, and we match Parsons, we would then be limited to minimum signings and exceptions to fill out the rest of our roster.

only read a few pages but a lot didnt like it. did they forget what ariza has turned into in washington? he's not the same player when he was with the rockets. this is a great deal. a starting 3d swingman is exactly the player we need, and didnt have to overpay to get him. 8mil per is his value. glad i didnt have to wait till monday for rockets to do something

Love him at that price. Now you see what's available at the four. If you match Parsons we're already better then last year before we factor in potential growth from Tjones and/or Dmo. Yeah the Bosh scam was deflating but the team is still very very good.

 

OK Wiz fans have been saying between wall/Beal count for 70% of arizas points

Arizas is an borderline elite defender

Ariza has only had a good shooting years in his contract year

Solid pick up, Ariza will probably give us 12.5/4/3 in 30 min per game

Would have been nice to keep Lin and pick up Ariza, both would have given us 25 to 30 points per game of the bench

Hope one of the young guys step up and if neither do, there's always Brooks for the vet minimum

 

I like this idea. It's the same reason Lin went to the bench for Beverley. Lockdown defender/3 and D player in the starting lineup while Parsons comes off the bench to lead the 2nd unit and is their creator and number 1 option. He is under our control and if we want to pay him 15 mil to come off the bench so be it!

Ariza has improved since he was on our team last time.

Last time, it was him and Aaron Brooks as our main offense and playmakers.

It should be a lot better situation, for him and for our team than last time was.

 

Don't think you can match and trade, right? I think the earliest we can flip CP25 is Dec 15

Ok so then the best thing would be to another key player between now and the deadline, match Parsons then use the remaining dough to fill out the roster?

We could still get an Ryan Anderson, for example, in a S&T with the Pelicans after signing Parsons if other players are shipped out, and use one of the vet mins or trade exceptions for the Birdman, Okafor etc...

or what is the play now?
