I assume the holdup is that the Rockets say the French team should pay all of it. Especially since they don't actually want him to come over.

Guys..... MOREY DIDN'T WANT TO DEAL in the first place.

You know the whole... "Rockets are trying to sign Bosh" business? Capela being signed meant that there was another 1 million in salary Morey would have had to shave off the books to give him a full max deal. That means possibly losing Jones, or worse... Beverley to give a full max..... All because of Capela's cap hold.

The Rockets took what they thought was a Eurostash on draft night on purpose. They thought they had to purposefully take a player that wouldn't count against the cap.

The dispute you see here is nothing to see. If the Rockets somehow strike out in free agency over the next 35 - 40 hours, I would anticipate that Morey will cut a deal to bring Capela over because than it gives him a cheap asset he can trade or develop as a young player.

What Morey doesn't want is Capela becoming another Sergio Llull or Papanikolao (however you spell that). You can't have spend a 1st rounder on a Eurostash that might sign overseas for the better part of the next decade. You should only take those guys in the 2nd round.

After Sunday, I am pretty certain Capela will most likely get signed & might even get suited up in Vegas for the last game or two.

Definitely would not mind bringing him over to get some experience. Hopefully he will pan out for us, grab some boards and play some defense.

If Capela is just going to spend all of next season in RGV or on the bench - in other words, contribute nothing - by having him on the team you are basically giving away one year of productive play at a cheap price.

If he's two years away from being productive, you are pretty much forcing yourself to exercise his option without being at all sure what he is, and you're only getting 1 year of play out of the cheap rookie contract.

If I'm Morey, I do everything possible to keep him overseas, if you don't project him as able to play at all in the NBA at this point.

Even if you have to fill the backup center spot with a chump, it's better than starting the countdown to having to decide to either play Capella or cut him loose. If he isn't ready to play, bringing him over to sit on the bench is like giving him a shorter rookie deal/shorter path to free agency for free.

In the late 90's early 00's there were a number of HS players who spent three or four years on the bench, only to become a great player just in time to leave. Those teams were rewarded for their patience and guidance by having the player they drafted leave and have great careers somewhere else. Jermaine O'Neal is the first one to come to mind. Portland drafted and developed a great HS player, but got nothing from, other than taking up a spot on the bench. They ended up trading him to Indiana just in time for him to become good. The actual production they got out of that draft pick - both for 4 years from O'Neal and another 3.5 from an aging Dale Davis whom they traded him for, was pretty bad, considering how good the player they drafted ended up being.

The French team is the one that would get the buyout money. It would be the Rockets or Capela that has to make the payment TO the French team in exchange for them releasing him.

We'll probably bring him over once this whole Parsons fiasco dies down.

I think i know why this offseason has been so bad. What year is it? 2014. 14! We all know what that number means. This entire offseason has felt like we have been running in circles.

I hereby declare offseason 2014 the worst offseason in rockets history....thus far.

We wanted to stash him when we needed cap space, if we don't, wouldn't we benefit by getting him into our weight room, our training table, with our coaching and playing for the Vipers?

Look how much weight and strength Dmo gained from being here. The kid is probably dying to meet Olajuwon.

except that he's not even close to NBA ready. If dmo went from 220 to 260 and is still too soft, what do you think will happen to this kid?
