It is true if we cut all our role players. We won't do that now. We should have about 17 million right now. If we sign Ariza to 11 million, we'd have 6 million left. Not enough for Monroe or Bledsoe. I don't see any chance of us signing Ariza and keeping Parsons. That would be too much money tied up at the 3 (sure, Ariza can play some 2 as well). If Ariza comes, I expect Parsons to be gone - and I would hate Ariza for Parsons.
The love affair with Parsons is going to kill the rockets chances of winning a championship. It will ultimately be blamed on Morey and Cuban but I expect Parsons to start having more back spasms and his shooting percentage to fall. Hype hype hype once he gets paid it's a wrap. We did this whole thing wrong.
I HAVE noticed most of the "Houston is pursuing so and so" crap never comes to fruition while the real news is the one that isn't on ESPN so best to just wait it out and see who we get.
Can we please find a way to bring back Courtney Lee? Him and Howard are good friends. Played amazingly in Houston. Defense and three point shooting. Exactly what we need. Also Xavier Henry is a good defensive player who can back up harden for little money
I will be pretty disappointed in Morey if we let Parsons walk. For 7 years, I have trusted him to turn the situation around here but I'm growing tired of my team being gutted every time we show promise. For the life of me, I don't see the advantage of signing Ariza and letting Parsons walk. The dude only shows up in a contract year and Parsons not only has the intangibles on the court but the dude is a TEAMmate. He is the glue to the team; the backbone. We cannot afford to let him go. I really do think he is a critical piece to a championship run. I hope for this one thing: that the core of Harden, Howard, Bev, and Parsons remains intact for a long time. I want people to associate our team with this core. If Morey makes this mistake, it's going to be hard to turn back from.
Correct me if I'm wrong but with Lin and Ask gone, we have cap space...and we could take on salary via trade without having to send out significant pieces... If so I could see Morey going after the following as a bail out to salvage next year.... Boston: Jeff Green and Brandon Bass Atlanta: Al Horford and Paul Millsap Brooklyn: Deron Wiiliams, KG, Mirza Teleovich (spelling) Chicago: Carlos Boozer, Taj Gibson or Mike Dunleavy Charlotte: MKG or Gearld Henderson Denver: Gallinari, Wilson Chandler Milwaukee: Illyosova, Delfino New Orleans: Eric Gordan, Ryan Anderson, Austin Rivers New York: Andrea Bargnani, Amare stodumire, Imam Shampurt Orlando: Glen Davis, Am Harrington Sacramento: Jason Terry,Carl Landry Washington: Nene, Otto Porter
Morey is looking really desperate right now, that's what worries me the most. No reason to go for a guy you tried to sell as a franchise player in Ariza for 10 freaking million! Swing for the fences if you are ready to throw that kind of money at a horrible player. Sign Pierce or at least see if Lance would be interested...
I really hope we match Parsons offer as well. I could not stand him in a Dallas jersey and giving all of the satisfaction to the effing douche bags in that city
Stevie Franics is available. We are so god damn screwed, I'm just disgusted that we seem to always get F'd over.
Crap: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Source: Stephenson a serious candidate for Mavs: Add Lance Stephenson to the list of the Mavericks’ targets if... <a href="http://t.co/pMqGSLBX1a">http://t.co/pMqGSLBX1a</a></p>— Tim MacMahon (@espn_macmahon) <a href="https://twitter.com/espn_macmahon/statuses/488003773399171072">July 12, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Again, show me the alternative. Right now we have 3 options: 1. Quickly use our capspace then match Parsons 2. Don't match Parsons and use our capspace later 3. Match Parsons, operrate over the cap with the MLE, TE and bi-annual exception Option 1 is gonna net us the best team now, if we get the right players. Option 3 might be just as good, depending on what we can do with our TE. Now option two means we either get option 1 without Parsons (the extra 2 millions this year wouldn't change much) or we only sign veteran guys for 1 year like Pierce - or sign nobody and bank everything on next FA. I don't think anyone believes we have a shot at the title with any of these options without Parsons this year. So declining Parsons contract would mean, we "throw away" this season and go all in again next season. Possible targets could include Rondo, Parker, Rudy Gay, Dragic or Love. Great players (except Gay), sure. But it is far from a given that we get any of them. Chances are Love has commited to either LA or the Cavs by then. Rondo might stay in Boston or gets traded this season and commits to his new team. Parker will stay in SA. Dragic may not even want to come back. We only have the Harden/Howard combo for 3 more seasons guaranteed. I don't think we can "wait and hope" one more season. We need to build a team to win now. That means using our space as good as we can, continue building our team through trades and with the MLE.
Reminds me how Dallas got Monta Ellis last year. We don't like getting tough players like that... guys that can straight street hoop as role players... we like straight fundamental players/international or young rooks. Dallas they will pick up street ballers I see and surround them all around Dirk.
