After looking at past Lakers drafts, my best guess is that it's going to be Nigerian center Chinemelu Elonu from Texas A&M. I liked the kid in college, but that was a long time ago. He'll never play in the NBA, so we literally gave away Lin, a 1st, and 2nd round draft picks for essentially nothing but cap relief.

To put that in perspective, we gave up more for Chinemelu Elonu than we got in return for trading fellow Nigerian center Hakeem Olajuwon to Toronto.

    Awesome!

It could also be Ater Majok, a 6-11 27-year-old C from the Sudan.

The only other possibility is Sergei Lishouk, a 6-11 Ukrainian PF who's already 32.

    Enough cap-space to resign Parson.

Used the amnesty on Scola. Only one per team.

Alternative is stretch provision, but 1/3rd of his salary would still count against our cap for 3 years.

Just the fact that Lakers take him is good enough. :)

Sad about giving up the picks but no one is going to take him from us for free. They want compensation.

Maybe the foreign player is another Luis scola. Didn't the spurs give us Luis for free?

Let's see if they can find someone better. Cap space doesn't play on the floor, players do. For a team that is contending, this could be a lost year.

    Crazy people on this board.

This trade was absolute disaster because Rockets will not get to use the cap room on another star player.

If no star then it makes better sense to keep and trade at deadline because it would likely NOT cost 2 picks to ship him out. And he may be hated but he was the one viable option off the bench. Now Rockets got nothing and no 3rd star to boot.

Yes Bosh hosed the Rockets royally. I am guessing he gave every indication he was going to sign with the Rockets, short of actually signing, then pulled a 180.

Morey got burn bad on this one. No easy way to say it.

He even said they would not "trade" Lin if no real need.

No, getting ride of Lin fans off this board does not count.

So good luck to Lin in LA.

You know. He is blessed. He played for the Knicks (NY) and now Lakers (LA).
These are major media loved franchises in NBA. And he is making $25 million playing a game which he loves.

Say what you will LOF and LOH. He is gone now so please, no more illrational discussions.... Wait, never mind.

Did we really have to give up a 1st to get rid of this sorry excuse of a player?
