Just wondering what the hell Eddie Griffin is doing this offseason to take his game to the next level. Is he putting on poundage and hitting the weights like a mutha? Is he learning to take shots that arent's outside the 3-point arc? Or is he just sitting at home with a blunt enjoying his vacation?

It's okay to reply to the thread, guys. Seriously, does anyone have any news on Eddie? I love the guy and I don't care if he smokes blunts. As long as he abuses the other team on game nights.

I really don't wish for JVG to trade him.

I think they're waiting for a good thread to respond to. I, on the other hand, will respond to anything.

You know that Eddie Griffin and Maurice Taylor are going to be gone cause of the Weed problems. I KNOW THIS MAN!

Expect Kurt Thomas to be a Rocket, cause hes from Texas.

We sort of know what to expect from C and G, so I really think that Griffin or maybe Nachbar will be the X factor that pushes to the next level or continues to hold us down. I think Van Gundy will help with discipline and defense but we need these young guys to fill some roles and Eddie's role is not to sit at the 3-pt line and clank bricks off the iron, although he can probably do that as well as anybody (besides Mobley). I'm pulling for the young guys to take it to the next level and not sit around and watch Cat, Yao and Franchise miss (I mean take) all the shots.

I seen EG being interviewed on TV the other day after hearing about JVG coming here and I could see it was west side tennis club in the background. He was all sweating and out of breath so it looked like he was working pretty hard. At least he is staying active in the gym working on his game during the summer months instead of out partying.

I heard he has been at Westside, but not sure what type of training he is doing.

    Clearly he needs to
    1) Work on weights to bulk up. He is at 232 now and needs to push past 240.
    2) Work on his low post game. Jump hooks, turnaround jumpers. Also work on his ball handling.

I think if he does those 2 things then he will be a better player next year. Hopefully with Van Gundy in here he can teach Griffin how to set low post screens for Yao and better position defense.

I personally think Griffin has a chance to gain the most from Van Gundy being here as long as he works hard.

I suspected there would be some "sitting at home, smoking" votes, but 53%????? Give the kid a break. Griffin is going to be the most improved Rocket of the coming year. That is my prediction, so mark it down.

He's either driving to town scoring a dime bag.

    or

He's hitting 7-Eleven because he has the munchies.

a week after the playoffs began, I actually saw him at first colony mall walkin around with some of his friends. He didn't seem to mind too much not being in the playoffs since the suns and spurs were playing that night.

I never quite understand this mindset of fans who think, "Golly, if Eddie could put on another 15 pounds of muscle, he'd be a hoss."

Um, if Shawn Bradley put on 15 pounds of muscle, he'd be a hoss too. It's not gonna happen though.

that is so unfair. is he supposed to be under house arrest now? is he banned from going to the mall, since he didn't make the playoffs? c'mon now. what makes you think "he didn't seem to mind too much not being in the playoffs"?

Really, in all honesty if Eddie puts on the weight, works on ft line jumpers and jump hooks, he'll be just fine. One JVG comes in, he will play at the ft line more instead of 3pt line. Marcus Camby under JVG used to dive from the ft line via double team for layups and dunks. Its going to be times when that jump hook will be needed. He's not that far off from being a good player for us aka like Horace Grant for the Bulls in the 90's. His arsenal consisted of the same things I'm talking about with Eddie and has proved to be a valuable member of chamionship quality teams. I'm not really putting a high ceiling on what kind of player he can be, but if can work on those 2 things, Eddie can be a 14pt 10 rebs 2 blks 4 for this team which would be more than enough.
