Did not want to match parsons regardless. That contract is going to hurt the mavs more than help us. Let his ass go. It ain't nothin to cut that b**** off.
15 million is way too much, but seeing our luck at the moment I don't think we'll get anyone good. So just screw it and match.
You can't WALK away from talent, you add to the team, and Parson's contract is good for a larger trade if necessary. GOOD TEAMS DO NOT LET ASSETS WALK AWAY ! DD
I don't understand why somebody wouldn't do it. This season we have until monday to use our space. That should be enough. Even if it's not, is there somebody that would make our team better that we'd be guaranteed to get? With Parsons and some FA we snag until monday, we'd still have the MLE next season and maybe a contract we can trade. Basically what I am saying is: we can't wait for another star FA signing. We need to build this team to win now. We know what we have in Parsons and we have some time to get someone like Deng. Improve this team as much as you can and go from there.
Pick up every free agent we can. We have absolutely no depth right now. Gasol, Ariza, Deng. Go after EVERYBODY in free agency right now.
if we let Parsons walk, we may risk losing a year of the Howard/Harden pairing making a deep playoff run. Maybe we can get similar production (16/4/5 with crappy defense) from a cheaper player. It's doubtful that we risk losing out on a title because Howard/Harden/Parsons didn't get out of the 1st round this year. if we resign parsons, we may risk losing out on the entirety of the Howard/Harden pairing ever winning a championship because Parsons is not the "missing piece" for a title run. Paying $15 mil for Parsons will cripple us from ever getting a 3rd star. For the duration of his contract, we'll be out of the Free Agency game and extremely limited on who can we can trade for. I still maintain his contract will be untradeable when he's putting up the same numbers he did last season and making more money than harden.
Wow. The Garm was a peak ecstasy for 3 whole hours. Getting rid o Lin and his fans. Getting Bosh and matching Parsons. Easy come, easy go. July 11, 2014. A day that will live in (spare the Lin jokes here) Infamy...
You have to match no matter what happens. If you don't, then you're just giving up on next season for cap flexibility next offseason when there may not be any good FAs, especially if Love ends up in Cleveland. I think if this team doesn't match, it means they didn't learn anything from the free agency lesson that we just got spanked with.
We have him locked up for 2 more years after this, and he ain't holding us ransom. This is the kind of stuff that gets me riled up. Team first. We've done enough catering to superstars. In Morey we trust
That's good to know. Two players I really want that makes near that amount are Jeff Green(makes $9.2mil so it will have to be a 3-team deal with either Asik/Lin involved), and Ilyasova who makes $7.9mil and fit under the TE. Green can be small-ball 4 and SF. Ilyasova is nearly the fit that Bosh is but obviously less talented. MLE the Rockets can use to bring over Llul or Papanikalou. Overall there are definitely avenues the Rockets can explore even should they match Parsons.
Lin and Asik were redundant - they were highly paid backups...Parsons is a vital part of a 54 win team. DD
