Signed, Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole. Back to back rookie scale NBA champions. The last 3 years a finals teams have had a team with rookie scale PGs. Think before you post.... It is probably more rampant than that, but I can't be bothered checking right now.
Trade Lin, Motiejunas and future pick to Philly for cap space and rights to KJ McDaniels Trade Asik to Pelicans for a future pick Trade multiple future picks to Miami for Chris Bosh signed to the maximum deal Sign rookie Nick Johnson Match Chandler Parsons offer sheet by Dallas Re-sign Troy Daniels with bird rights Sign Jameer Nelson and Francisco Garcia to veteran minimum deals Beverley/Nelson/Canaan Harden/Daniels/Johnson Parsons/Garcia/McDaniels Bosh/Jones/Covington Howard That's the best roster I could up with that would involve getting Bosh, matching Parsons and filling out our bench under the 81 million hard cap.
Don't you need to have a player for more than 1 year to have their Bird rights? Technically the Rockets only signed him in Feb so it hasn't even been a full year.
If CP walks and Bosh does sign, what about a trade with Denver for Faried. Hou in Faried Denver gets Pelicans first and cash
Give up on Bosh. Get Pau, Xavier Henry, Chalmers and Miller. Trade away Asik and Lin. Match Parsons or sign Ariza Beverly Harden Parson or Ariza Gasol Howard Great front line. Pretty good starting line up
Even if no Bosh or Parsons, no need to panic b/c there are still options for this team to improve: Eric Bledsoe Luol Deng Trevor Ariza Ray Allen Shawn Marion Plus all the S&T opportunities:
Could this be possible? 1. Push the Asik trade through. 2. Sign Trevor Ariza--this May require approximately $2 mil in additional cap space so trade away Canaan and someone else (maybe Casspi or D-Mo) 3. Match the offer for Parsons. 4. Trade Parsons+Jones+picks for Love. 5. Use the salary cap exceptions to sign Papanikolau and a backup big man (maybe Hill) 6. Resign Garcia and Daniels. We'd be looking at a roster of Bev/Lin/Johnson Harden/Daniels/Garcia Ariza/Papanikolau/Covington Love/(D-Mo or Casspi) Howard/(Hill?)
bledsoe is getting matched no matter what. deng is going to want 10-11 million same for ariza ray allen is following lebron. shawn marion is actually viable. if anything i say we pass on bosh, sign a couple players of what the cost of bosh would be, then match parsons deal.
except no one really expected parsons to get a max offer. there will be great surprise if bledsoe DOESN'T receive a max offer.
We literally need no trades. If Bosh signs. Sign Bosh, Just keep Jones and Daniels (clean house besides them) Keep Parsons Sign Jameer Nelson to MLE Sign Birdman to Bi-Annual Sign Metta World Peace to Vet Min Beverley/Nelson Harden/Daniels Parson/World Peace Bosh/Jones Howard/Birdman That's a 60+ win team
your plan is to add a 31 year old jameer nelson who isn't good anymore. add a 34 year old ron artest who played 30 games last year, and birdman? and that makes us a 60 win team..how exactly?
How is Jameer nelson not good anymore? he can easily, easily average 12 and 6 playing with us. the only reason the magic aren't keeping him is because of the rebuilding. You obviously havent seen much of him last season. What do you except to add at this point? more young players? These three players have FINALS experience, 2 even champions. Vets is what we need at the moment. Ariza is going to be overpaid, just like everyone else. So tell me, who can we pick up for the mle?
assuming we don't sign bosh, and sign FAs before we match parsons deal, we'd have somewhere around 16-18 million in cap space. enough to resign troy daniels, and add maybe 3 players out of: marion - solid versatile defender. vince carter - veteran who can score off the bench anthony morrow - top 5 3pt shooter in the NBA pau gasol - veteran experience, offensively efficient, poor defense but can't be worse than jones. also has size to play next to dwight or be the C when dwight is out jordan hill - productive big man. fills size which we don't have. i'd like to see nick johnson run back up point. we don't run a real offensive system anyways, so our PG just needs to be able to defend and catch/shoot.
Asik and Lin are obviously a modal location of funds. So shouldn't there be some sort of deadline (likely today) on when the Rockets have to finish or cut bait with Bosh. If the Rockets are really going to improve this team, I think they have to turn Asik and Lin into contributing players that actually fill holes on this team in time to match Parson's offer. Or am I looking at this wrong?
We need a PF along with matching parsons, deng isnt a pf, ariza isnt a pf and trying to sign an offer sheet for a restricted player is out the question.
