In retrospect, yes, we should have kept him on the cheap contract. Easy to say in hindsight though.

If we don't match, hopefully we get another great cheap second round, productive pick, like brooks/landry/parsons...and then the "in retrospect" answer will be no.

The "in retrospect" question isn't that interesting. and the answer can change a lot over time. The real question is whether it was a good move when he made it. Since it's Morey, i'm sure it was a calculated risk, and he's got a history of making good ones. and then things happened as they did. in morey we trust right? he's earned that trust

    :)

If I had to bet, I would imagine Les Alexander isn't real happy about this.

DM probably regrets doing it now however CP deserved to get payed. Can't blame him for signing for money like that.

Knowing what we know now..we could have rented him for cheap for one more year. But who would have thunk a team would give him that kind of money. It's ONLY the Mavs that do this...i bet there isn't another team out there that would give him that kind of money. This just show there is something Cuban have agains the Rockets. Throwing money to a player that ain't a superstar...hell, he even make more money than their own star DIRK lol. This just shows this is more than just a regular transaction.

Well said, Cuban has put together a great front court with unreal height (assuming they get Parsons). Also, the contract is 3 instead of 4 years so when Dirk is out of the picture, they can revamp the team. He is going for a three year run and consider how the team looked two years ago, that is pretty amazing.

Charlotte just threw that offer at Hayward, when Utah match, it would have been them instead.

Is it right that it has a player option and a trade kicker? Seems like Cuban designed it to be as toxic to Morey as possible.

Dirk Chandler Parsons versus DHoward, Bosh, and Filler

I think I will take my chances if I am Houston

I always thought parsons had a really sweet situation here, playing for McHale, alongside Harden and Howard. The longest tenured player on roster, loved by fans,, etc. I have to think he would prefer staying in Houston. Really wonder what conversations he has been having with Rockets. Because if I remember right, the Rockets only have to match to keep him, after another team makes an offer. If that's right, the Rockets could have signed him to a contract before this, and avoided this whole situation.

There were only two good things that could happen by letting him hit the market early. 1 get him at a lower price. 2 Parson works with rockets to give them more time to sign other players. Neither happen

Will Parsons regress and become the new Lin? that would be terrible

I understand overpaying to snag him away from another team, but I still think Hayward's contract set the market value for Parsons. And it set it sky high.

You fools saying RFA>UFA are idiots. 1 mil parson > no Parsons > 15 mil Parsons. Parsons would have to work one more year for that contact. Instead i think his numbers will fall off quite a bit this year. I think he has peaked now anyways. Hes done.. Got his money

If Morey had wanted to pay Parsons anything close to $45 mill, I think they would have reached a deal with Parsons before Dallas ever made an offer.

    Writing on the wall.

Parsons taking down Rockets stuff from his Facebook is, for me, just confirmation.

(If true) will be sad to see Chandler leave.
