He signed that contract willingly. What is the danger in Houston having a bad rap? Our restricted free agents will sign crippling offer sheets at 12:01?

Exactly. Only a handful of people on this forum actually realize that.

No it would not have been a dbag move. Kawhi Leonard played miles better this year than Parsons, but you don't see the Spurs declining the last year of his rookie contract.

He gets a bump in salary paid by us if we trade him.

If he is ever traded, he gets 15% bonus of whatever is left on that contract.

 How is this a screw up again? Making Parsons a RFA was done with the intention he would be a Rocket long term, he gets his money a year earlier and the Rox can sign a max free agent and pay lux tax to keep Parsons on the team. If the team had lowballed Parsons yet again, there was a chance he would never sign with the Rox after next year.

Of course "analysts" who don't follow the Rox can easily shake their heads and say it's Morey's biggest mistake, but IMHO it was the correct thing to do, even if it meant taking the risk that Parsons might leave for nothing. The dude switched agents and recruited Dwight into the Rox, you repay him by lowballing him yet again for 1 more year?

LOL whatever bro, I'm of the opinion you reward people who go the extra mile , not screw them one more year.

I'm happy for Parsons, the contract he got is comparable to a Max player like Lebron, with a pay of 15M per, a trade kicker and even a early PTO. Even though it is overpaid, it's par for the current market and honestly he is a much better value than someone like Gordon Hayward. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we matched him then started picking up mid tier guys like Deng.
