I don't see what the big deal is with us matching it. Wouldn't Harden, Howard Parsons and possibly Boshs contracts end within a year of each other?

If they can't get it done in 3 years then we start over with ample cap space right?

I love that people are calling this a blunder. If you let Chandler become an RFA you have a chance to keep him, if he's a UFA you have no chance to keep him. See the difference? Some chance is better than no chance. Morey did what he could to increase the Rocket's odds of keeping CP, CP went and got PAID. I don't blame either side here. However, $15 mil to keep a guy on a team that couldn't get out of the first round is pricey for me. Add trade kicker AND player option? No dice. Its like CP showed up to his meeting with Cuban pantsless, and Cuban couldn't say no. How is this deal not a monster one for CP?

Yeah, don't really see how this makes any sense unless he's talking if Bosh doesn't come here. Can't even S&T Parsons, so either Broussard is wrong or he means that they'd go after him in the event they don't get Bosh.

Ariza is a better fit for this team than Parsons. Hugely better and plays better when he's put in the right situation. No brainer to put a defensive stud next to Harden.

You cannot be too nostalgic buiding a contender. It's nothing personal.
Parsons should get paid. By us or any other team.

They can't unless, Ariza would take the MLE. The scenarios are 1) sign bosh, then match parsons. 2) sign bosh, decline parsons, add SF using MLE. Option 3) don't match parsons, sign ariza or deng with cap space to replace him. Option 4) match parsons and sign someone like deng or gasol with the remaining cap space.

Chandler Parsons is basically what Al Harrington was in his prime years and most folks here balked at the idea of him in a Rockets uni several years ago. Max deals are for top level talent, not Chandler Parsons. Don't let Cuban force your hand Morey!

No way would i match that deal, it leaves no wiggle room in case of major along the way. Really good players shouldn't be paid as though they are great and CP is my favorite Rocket.

No question Morey got out played by Fegan in this one.

Parsons 3 years contract, player's option in 2016 summer, trade kicker.
Howard 4 years contract, player's option in 2016 summer, trade kicker.

This is a evil plan by Fegan to have 2 major chips together in the 2016 summer market to bargain with every team.

The Broussard/Ariza thing is nonsense. We won't waste our cap space on this guy, and rightly so. He is a guy who suddenly does well in contract years and then disappears somewhat. Bosh/Ariza wouldn't be possible and we would have made the team worse, not better, if we were to come out of the summer with no Lebron, no Bosh, no Love, the subtraction of Parsons and the addition of Ariza. It's just Broussard coming up with crap again.

Let's piss away a year of the Harden/dwight era. Oh and piss off Dwight in the process by letting one of his best friends walk. No thanks. You match this short deal and trade Parsons down the road if need be.

Show me a SF not named Kevin Durant who's as talented now and given his age/experience in the league thus far has as much potential as Parsons.

Actually, THIS was Fegan's end game. Parson's won a max contract. The end. In 2 years they'll both opt out, for what? A bigger max to be sure, but in Parsons' case, he'll definitely have to prove over the next two years that he's earned it. The odds of that happening are much lower than they are for Dwight, but we'll be rooting for him to realize his potential all the way...just so long as we match on him.

what a travesty! LBJ is holding the whole league hostage...... everything is in a standstill for one man. now we are going to lose our glue guy because of this. let's hope we could somewhat sign Bosh in three days then match Parsons' offer.

Parsons may deserve as much as the market can bear, but to the Rockets, Parsons may only deserve as much as the market can bear as long as the Rockets is a title contender. However, the Rockets is one major piece away and Parsons is going to prevent us from getting that piece unless we can land him within the next 3 days. If the Rockets can't land that key player, it's much better to let Parsons go so we can continue to chase that key player first.
