Shipley's? Really? Do yall think Cheesecake Factory is the best restaurant in Houston? Is Panda Express your goto spot for Chinese food? There are so many better mom and pop donut shops around town that you are missing out. Shipley's doesn't even make their stuff from scratch. If we're talking best donut chains, Dunkin Donuts wins with their variety of options.
You were making an interesting case and then you undercut that by claiming DD>Shipley's, hard to take you seriously.
Try out Grove Do-Nutz & Deli if you're near Richmond area. They serve some pretty creative looking donuts and it's run by a Vietnamese fam I believe. The Vietnamese sandwiches are pretty good as well.
Can you list some? This is what I was looking for. Shipley's is an obvious answer but a really generic one.
I've been to Shipley's at 6am before, and it sure does look like they make their glazed donuts from scratch.
LOL, this inevitably happens in every "what is your favorite ____?" thread. Some snob has to hate on the franchises just because they're franchises and not some obscure mom and pop shop that no one else has heard of.
No, but most Americans would probably choose PeiWei/PF Changs over most mom/pop Chinese food joints on Bellaire.
Well, yeah? The discussion is Best Donut Place in Houston. I think his comments are warranted here. The thread is not, best donut franchises in Houston.
Shipley's really is the best man, it's not impossible for a chain to not be capable of offering the best of what it is they offer, so long as they do it better than everyone else.
The problem you get with chains is varying quality and no responsibility for reputation of the brand like a single store.
Houston does not have that many donut places. I honestly can only think of river oaks donuts as another donut shop But I also never get donuts
No doubt. I work up near Conroe and there is a 24 hour Shipley's there. I go into work pretty early, and I have still not gotten fresh, warm donuts from them. The one I go to in Houston has warm donuts on the reg.
