If it gets to high Les can sell off his downtown New York City condo and add about $75 million to the payroll. Heck, for a $100 a month I'll let him move into our spare room and he can still be ahead $74,999,900. He would need to handle some chores around the house though. You guys can thank me later for helping out the team.

Considering last year's profits, the team could handle a salary of about 90m next season before it would break even.

Given the new cba rules, it's actually pretty difficult to get from where we are to that high.

Les and Morey aren't idiots. They know the NBA trend and they know that money is flowing in at epic pace. The prediction of the new TV deal already is putting the new salary cap in a couple of years at 80 mil. Which would push the luxury tax at over 90mil.

The Rockets will probably pay the tax this season if they S&T for Bosh or trade for Love. Then maybe a bit the next year. But by the time the new TV contract rolls in, the Rocket could actually be UNDER the tax by then.

Besides, even if Les is paying the tax, it won't be much. He's not paying any repeater tax or even higher level tax for at least 2-3 years.
