Not really because Kelly Olynyk can play the 4 and he's probably a better 3 point shooter than Bosh and he can help out at the center position when needed. He's a big man with a very good offensive skill set. Harden probably would be better served moving to the small forward spot or just fluctuating between the 2-3 spot. Rondo and Beverley would be vicious in the backcourt together on the defensive end with Howard backing them up.
Yes Really... Beverly was the 5th option when on the floor. Lin had more offensive responsibilities than him. Rondo was the catalyst for his team. He had a good majority of the defensive focus on controlling him. And really it's moot anyways, because this isn't a vacuum and Rondo only played ~30 games last season and should get better heading into this season after being even further removed from his injury.
Absolutely wrong. You're assuming that post-torn ACL Rondo will perform at the same level as pre-torn ACL Rondo, and you simply can't make that assumption.
Rondo is a triple double machine and a big game performer with championship experience. Hard nosed defender and elite competitor. I've seen him drain BIGTIME jumpers when games mattered most. He's a damn good player that elevates his game to greatness under the spotlight. Rondo is a fit on any team with a vacancy at the PG position. Especially in a free flowing offense like the Rockets'. He'd live in the paint and leave the shooting to Parsons and Harden, DH would feast off of his assists. Rondo would avg 14/6/8 here with ease. And Howard would likely rise above 22 PPG for the first time in his career as well. Leave that up to the Dr's. If they say he's clear, you try and get him.
The only real knock against Rondo is his health, he has only played 110+ games in the last 3 seasons.
It's relevant; it just has to be properly discounted. It's relevance is in showing what Rondo could do pre-injury...essentially a ceiling (he is 28 and I don't think will get better than he ever was as a PG as he gets older). I'd then look at Rondo for 2014, the few games he played after coming back. The rest is all guesswork. We don't have access to his medical files, his training regimen, etc., to know how healthy or effective he will be come next season. Our FO (and Boston's) would know best. Some thought Dwight was done, but the farther removed from the injury, the more amazing he's looked...which is great for us. Could be true for Rondo as well, or not...
You're right, Beverley feasted on open 3 point shots that Rondo has never shown, even pre-injury, he was any good at knocking down.
You act like the point of bringing in Rondo is for 3 point shooting. What is wrong with you? We aren't ditching Bev for Rondo, you get both.
You stated that Rondo's jumpshot percentages are bad, and I posted something that proved otherwise. If you have anything more relevant and concrete to bring to the table, please do.
Beverly and Rondo would play two totally different roles in the offense. Stop being purposefully obtuse and acting like we'd have Rondo sitting in the corner jacking threes.
