Using what to scale it? Best overvall player or best talent for the Rockets?

Hakeem had far better stats as a rookie (20 ppg, 11 reb) and proved his potential much earlier on. (Just to state the obvious.)

You created a poll with only two choices and you are surprised that someone voted for Yao while knowing that he has an army of fans who don't know much about the pre-Yao Rockets much less Hakeem? Why don't you just create a post titled "Hakeem is the Best Rocket Center EVER!" and dispense with the fake pretense and mock anger? This gets my vote for one of the dumbest polls this month.

You people just don't get it, do you?

This could be the first poll ever on this board that Yao doesn't win! :)

this poll is not only disrespectful to hakeem but is unfair to yao. one is an nba legend who just finished his career and the other one just started his career.

i would pick a 22 yo hakeem over a 22 yo yao but not a 42 yo hakeem over a 22 yo yao.

let's enjoy yao's development and who knows he could end up as one of the greatest nba players of all time 10 years from now.

Ha! If you think he's going to be THAT much better than Hakeem you must be delusional.

Yao didnt have the potential of Dream. Dream had some good ball handles which yao doesnt have. Dream had physicallity. He was feared even by Shaq. He also had great athleticism. All yao has is a good shot and good b-ball iq.

I can't believe Yao's getting 1/3 of the vote (give or take). Did any of you who voted for Yao see Dream play before the medical problems and age derailed him?

No offense to Yao who is a great player but Hakeem was the DREAM. He dominated games offensively and defensively. He has the offensive moves, blocked shots, stole the ball, rebounded the ball. Yao may be the guy you want on your Nike commercial but Dream is one of the top 3 centers ever. That's a lot to expect of yao. Nonetheless, the past is the past and Yao is the future.

    :D GO YAO!!!:D

I am guessing that those who voted for Yao are:

    a) Young, and not old enough to remember watching Hakeem in his prime (or his early years)

    b) Yao-only fans who are convinced Yao should win every poll and that he is the greatest thing since Goober Grape

    c) Just plain looney

Logic dictates that you don't compare two players until after or close to the end of their career. If your point was to prove that Dream was a better rookie because he was more NBA ready, you've done that. However, last time I checked teams don't simply draft 22 year olds on what he can do in his first year, but also what he can do 5 years from now. Yeah I'm talking potential, quite frankly Yao has more potential (because he still has a lot to learn) than Dream and we don't know how good he'll get. All this just make this poll more ridiculous.

Your crazy. Your expecting Yao to be a TOP 10 NBA PLAYER OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!! Yao has no where near potential as Dream. Dream was way more athletic(all time blocks leader), why more physical, awsome shot. He also brought the first championship to Houston!!!!!!!!! We will never forget that. He is a legend. We freakin want to build a statue of this guy. All Yao has is a good shot, and good b-ball iq. He has nowhere near the potential that Dream had!!!!
