http://www.booktv.org/misc/BookExpo_053103.asp third link down. you gotta get about 30 minutes into it to get to the core of it.
Al Franken kicked his ass and then mopped the floor with him. O'Reilly can't win fair debates -- only rigged, two-on-one bullying contests.
I wouldn't consider this much of a debate, by any means. It was very entertaining though. I think both Franken and O' Reilly represent a level headed voice for both repective sides, even though O' Reilly claimes he's not Left or Right (b.s.). The funniest part of this was Franken is so quick that he can laugh off anything. He doesn't seem to take it personal where O'reilly clearly gets pissy. I'd pay admission to see an actual debate between these two.
That was great. Bill tried to take over the "show" but he could not. He realized it. Bill was wrong. I love the part where Bill said, "I never claimed that I got the Polk Award!" Then, Al says, "Why did you use the pronoun, we?"
That was hilarious - the 'we' reference. Al came over better than O'Reilly on this one. That's the first time I've seen O'Reilly uncomfortable. Probably because he can control his own shows.
Yep. Bill can always "cut-off" his guest if they make valid points. I wish I could debate Bill. One-on-one, and not on his show. I don't disagree with everything he says. But I disagree with this method of getting his point across. He's also distracted by other issues antagonist bring up and he ends up going on tangents (all for show). And he uses those "tangents" as reasons to try and discredit his guests (rather than the topic at hand).
I just saw my first "highlights" of this boxing er debate match-up and O'Reilly looked like Ruiz getting peppered by Jones Jr. Funny stuff
Franken is a delusional washed up SNL writer who cashes in by writing books with inflamatory titles but no substance inside the cover. Didn't he assault some reporter at a White House function a while back? O'Reilly is just one of a hundred self absorbed conservative talk hosts who do their show-prep by listening to Rush every day and spend more time talking about what great talk hosts they are than they do talking about actual issues. These two guys were made for eachother. They're both boobs. Just my opinion.
Franken's problem is that he's just as liberal as O'reily is conservative. Molly Ivins made good points that both All and Bill agreed on. And she's a democrat, although moderate. The thing that I do like about Al, is that he has a knack for finding the humor in things. While Bill is serious about everything!
Very true. One thing that he said was that he did not favor Bush over Clinton, which is crap. One statement made that clear when he said that he hoped that WMD were found. This is more about saving face (Bush), than finding "WMD" in order to protect the country. You can wish to find WMD, but if they never existed, then what? Save-face, that's what. And that's what Bill's comments were about.
According to my wife, CSPAN is supposed to air the show again tomorrow (Sunday). Don't know what time.
It was just on. And now they're showing the post convention call-in interview show with Molly Ivans and Al Frankin. Bill did the call-in show before the convention.
WTF, how did Franken get over on O'Reilly? O'Reilly shouted him down. If I were Franken, I would have been mad that his counterpart raped him so bad verbally. Based on this script, I didn't realize Franken liked to expose people unfairly. O'REILLY: All he's got in six-and-a-half years is that I misspoke, that a labeled a Polk Award a Peabody. He writes it in his book. He tries to make me out a liar. AL FRANKEN, AUTHOR: No, no, no. O'REILLY: Hey, shut up! You had your 35 minutes! Shut up! This is what this guy does. He demonizes it, all right? And then other people pick it up. Now, if it's important to you that I misspoke and labeled a Peabody a Polk, that's fine. FRANKEN: You didn't just misspeak. O'REILLY: That's fine, OK? This is what he does. He's a vicious -- and that is with a capital V -- person, who is blinded by ideology. You make a nice living being a propagandist, and more power to you. But don't put yourself up as a truth teller because you are not. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,88438,00.html
Bill O'Reilly can't deal with people proving him wrong. Drudge reported Bill getting a radio show while Rush was having hearing problems. Bill then went on Imus in the Morning and said "There's one solution: kill Matt Drudge." Drudge is really hilarious when he talks about O'Reilly. He was comparing O'Reilly to the Shining. Everything is fine, then all of a sudden the guy is coming at you with an axe.
"If you're really so 'fair and balanced,' would you mind letting me be with you in the copy room when you edit this piece for your show, bill?" heh
