I was recently asked if Carlos Rogers can become a free agent after this season. According to Clutchcity, Davo and Patricia, he's an FA after '01/'02 and has no sort of option on neither the team side nor the player side. But, I'm just quadruple-checking: does anyone know, or think they know, or think they remember, anything that would get Rogers into free agency earlier than the offseason after next?

Yes, I hear we made a secret agreement with him to pay him the max if he stays on the bench, keeps his mouth shut, becomes forgotten, then stars when we finally call his number. Alexander signed this agreement to strategically control fan enthusiam by deploying the energizer bunny secret weapon at low points in the season.

Sterns apparently suspects such an agreement, which could make Rogers a FA immediately, if discovered.

    Juan,

Why are you asking this question? Are you one of the Cavs' management people? Want to get a talent from us. [IMG]

Sorry Juan, you have to admit it was funny though.Concerning your question RealGM has him listed as signed through this year and next but if I remember correctly there was talk here that he was somehow a free agent after this year I'm not sure though.

Maybe that's what Rudy's doing. Keeping Los on the bench for the next two years so that his free agent value doesn't skyrocket. then we can sign him long term and he can star.

    JV:

On the Grizz espn board a person known as 'swift4grizz' posted the following on the Rockets pick (he had called in on a sports show w/ a grizz gm or coach)

Anyhow, apparently the Houston pick does NOT have to be resolved by next year! It can keep on going, but apparently has to be THEIR pick, or a pick within two spots of their own. Kinda crappy.

Is there anyway to ever get concrete info on these things? Does the chron team actually work for a living?

Thanks everyone for your help. As for the draft picks, I'm working on them and I'm trying to do it all right, but usually not all the conditions on picks are disclosed, which makes my life very hard. Once I have it all figured out, it will be available at RealGM.

Achebe, thanks for posting the thing for the Grizz fan. Please forgive me, though, if I don't consider a report on a guy posting on a ESPN messageboard (of all places) about a conversation he said he had with the Van GM or coach a reliable enough source to include in my database. However, if I do find corroborating evidence, I'll be sure to send you a thank-you.
