Remember how Woj wrote an article about how the double double machine Randle would need foot surgery?

Planted by the Lakers so that he could fall to them at 7. Randle should have easily been top 4 without that

I don't think he is better than anyone drafted in front of him except Aaron Gordon. How does Randle feel about that? Did he want to play for LA?

 

Ok...ok...I just read that exact same theory by someone who posted in the comment section of a Randle article. Literally just read it like a couple hours ago.

He would only play PF in spurts.
The west is loaded with all star PF's. No way you ask Melo to guard Griffin/Ibaka/Aldridge/Randolph etc.

Parsons is gonna be the 6th man like Ginobili.

There's still no defense going on, and they wouldn't have the personnel to go Phoenix eternal transition style to try and cover it.

One thing I do wonder about, is why is there like this almost delusional viewpoint of draft picks? the 1 and done guys are never really that productive in their first year, not even Durant or the Brow really were, and their talent levels are light years ahead of anyone in this class except maybe a healthy Embiid.

Randle is a rookie. A promising rookie, but still a rookie.
Gasol's defense has declined rapidly. Even more so if you are asking him to play Center. And that is assuming that they would be able to convince him to take a massive paycut to sign with them.

If they gave Carmelo the full max, and if they used the stretch provision on Nash, they would then need to convince Gasol to take a payout to about 6 million, which would leave them capped out and have no room for Thomas.

That would change if they were able to trade Nash, and maybe that is a possibility, but I don't see it happening. They don't have the assets to attach to him to make his contract attractive.

 

If you lose in the 1st rd or finals guess what?

I don't think Melo wants to only make it to the conf finals. He wants a ring and nothing is guaranteed in the NBA. You can't promise Melo a ring.
What you can promise is commitment to winning.

Look at his options.....

What did the lakers do? (Didn't make the playoffs.)
What did the Bulls do? (Lost D rose yet again and lost in the 1st round.)
What did NY do? (Didn't make the playoffs)
What did the Mavs do? (Lost in the 1st rd)

Melo isn't going to the Spurs.

 

I hope he turns out great for you. I also hope melo stays east if he doesn't come to houston so hopefully the lakers love is posturing. Should be an interesting 4 days.

Cle still thinks there is a chance they can get Lebron. Once that ship sails, they will offer max to Hayward.

BUT - this is their plan - Get Bron - trade Wiggins, a 1st and another piece for Love.

 

I can't believe the Lakers are even in it. Some how they always find a way to be in the discussion when clearly they should not be. I think Love fits our team much better anyway IMHO.
