i think people are getting ahead of themselves thinking of him as our future starting PG. He's not a traditional pg. He's seen as a SG, but at 6'3, he's undersized for that position and that's why he was a second rounder. He's more like Courtney Lee skill-wise. A great primary SG back up, who can back up the 1, if needed, and can do a solid job at filling in temporarily for an injured starter.

Nick Johnson is too short to play the 2, but he is definitely ready to contribute. I think he will play backup for Bev over Canaan

I was into it like it was a regular season game, started yelling and everything.

I see him as harden's back up.

I think Canaan is a really good player and much better suited for pg.

If true than what a fit... who could ask for anything more out of a mid 2nd round pick.

Nice to see a positive thing for the Rockets as all the solid role players free agents are finding new homes as we wait - and wait for the star players to say yes or no to us.

This reminds me of a former Rocket number 3...

At 6' 3", his height is not terrible for a defensive SG; especially with his hustle and athleticism. For perspective, the 6' 2" Avery Bradley is an excellent defender at the 2 spot (and just got paid).

By the way, i'm surprised no one has predicted he'll be next year's slam dunk champion.....

I can see him putting one a performance similar to Francis'. He's the same height, similar hops and dunking style. They also almost have the same vertical, Johnson is at almost 42" and Francis' was 43".

Funny thing is the whole game NBA TV attributed Johnson's stats to O. Asik on the crawl at the bottom of the screen.

He doesn't have the handles or strength of Francis.

True but next to a shooting guard who plays like a point guard in Harden, Johnson could be a great fit!

I think we are going to see Nick in the rotation by the end of next season. Not a starter like Chandler, but another 2nd round gem by Morey making an impact his first year after some seasoning with the Vipers.

Does that really matter in a dunk contest though? It wasn't a future player comparison.

And i'm not sure about the strength. Do you mean dunking with authority? Because Johnson sure looks like he's physically stronger than Francis was.

The optimism of the Summer League...

Based on summer performance, Donte' Green was going to be an all star, along with Royce White and DMo.

The dunk is super impressive (reminded me of KJ in Phoenix) and he is an interesting talent, but it's a little early to lock him in for anything but a job with the Vipers
