I am a big fan of going after Bosh. If he really wants max I would offer. He would be an answer to the length of Aldridge and would have changed that series. Not to mention the way he would complement Howard would be perfect. They each offset the other's weaknesses. Lebron and Melo are fine to dream about........but a front line of Bosh, Howard, and Parsons would really upset the applecart of a lot of other teams. Then there's Harden to deal with. I really think Bosh would just fit well with our current roster.
Could quickly become Plan "A" after this weekend when Melo resigns with NY and LeBron starts courting Cleveland seriously. If LeBron bolts, Bosh is in play.
I like Bosh. A good defender and good rebounder who has a pretty good midrange shot to open up the lane, and has shown willingness to be the third option already. However, I don't think I would offer him his max.
He is unique in the way that he can be a role player and a star when asked. Very skilled for an American big man. Eurostyle meets Height He is smarter than you think, coming out of Georgia Tech. Battier said that also in some interview. If a near max could pry him away from the Heat, I'd do it in an instant.
If we gave Bosh his max or near max, that would be somewhere around 54 million tied up to Harden, Howard and Bosh. That's a good start, no doubt. But would that be worth tying up that much cap space and significantly weakening our chances at building a bench? If it was Lebron, without a doubt. If it was Carmelo, I would be hesitant but I could be convinced that was a good idea. With Bosh, the guy who mostly disappeared during the Finals and has way too many other games that he doesn't show up? I'm not so sure. I really do like Bosh. I think he would be an awesome fit next to Howard, would help our defensive weaknesses and our defensive rebounding woes and would help to open up our offense. A max contract might be what it would take to even get him to think about leaving Miami, and if that is what it takes then I guess we wouldn't have any other options. Sometimes in NBA free agency you have to overpay for a player just to get him to come. This seems to happen especially in the case when you miss on another target. Giving Bosh close to 20 million dollars would be an example of that. I wouldn't like to give him that much money, especially when last season LMA made around 12mil and Kevin Love made around 13- even if those two guys aren't as realistic, it would make it feel even more that we were way overpaying Bosh.
I think Eric Spoelstra is not kicking his arse enough... and having Lebron on his team made enough other players do nothing else than camp outside waiting to shoot. McHale won't be that idiot to begin with. He is still not a good coach but at least he commands respect in practice.
