This is true, but I think the biggest limitation is Kobe's contract. That's like Wade on a superman. It makes it near next to impossible for them to put a rounded out team on the floor. So we agree about the coaching. But it was more than that, the Spurs lengthy reign of success is because of how the team is constructed, because of the chemistry between the three stars. They've also been very good at bringing in good roleplayers that fit their system and players that have potential to groom as future stars.

So, no, you don't just grab any "superstar" just because he's available, you grab the one that best fits your team. Melo has always been the offensive focal point of every team he's been on, unless he's willing to take a Dwayne Wade role on the Rockets, he's a defensive liability and a waste of money.
