mate they aren't going to go full escobar on him they went 19-63 last season and have a well known mandate for tanking in place I don't buy this "fans is philly are ruthless they're gona eat Lins face bullcrap", the team is doing jack all for the immediate future, everyone knows it and Lin will be able to run and gun with MCW in the backcourt with little to no consequence for every time he throws the ball away, we can't have that shiet on a prospective championship contender but on a Leastern conference feeder team any semblance of overachieving and the media will put it down as linsanity 2.0 - the race to get obliterated in the first round
It is way overblown, but I don't see how it is being disrespectful either. This happens all the time in sports. Oh noes, Carmelo wears the same number as Lin. We want a better player on our team than Lin. We blast pictures of Melo with Melo's jersey number all over Houston. Lin cries on twitter. Lin speaks biblical verses he doesn't understand on twitter. Woj claims Lin didn't know about it. Rockets say he did. Lin fans hate Rockets more, Rockets fans want Lin traded. It's a continuous cycle. Can't wait till he's gone.
He doesn't have to demand a trade because it seems it was a given that he was gone anyway. Especially with them drafting Nick Johnson. The same thing was probably done with Howard last year and Beverley didn't cry about it... And according to the LOF's _ Lin has been disrespected worst than this by the Rockets, but he speaks out about this...??? Lin is just swinging punches on his way out the door and taking some of the Rockets advertising money and possibly ratings with him.
I realize that social media is what we have here. We do social media. It's ClutchFans. As someone from the generation whose formative years were spent without mobile phones, without personal computers, without the internet (and I had a fabulous time, believe it or not, with more freedom that many of you), and up to my neck in science fiction (where the best writers in the country didn't think of a future with quite this kind of "social media"), I never dreamed of a scenario where a very, very intelligent young professional basketball player, who went to Harvard, one of the best universities on the planet, would seriously believe that going on Twitter and telling the world how his feelings are hurt and that he's been disrespected by his employer could possibly be a good idea. Going to management and quietly asking for a public apology for what was clearly a blunder by someone at the lower end of the Rockets food chain, which I don't doubt for a second the Rockets would have given him, would have been the obvious and logical thing to do. The choice Jeremy made was more the choice a freshman at Southwest Texas State might have made, not the choice of Harvard graduate with 4 years in the NBA under his belt. I'm deeply disappointed in the man. Shocked, really. His action was not professional. A flunky with the Rockets blundered, certainly, but Jeremy's decision was a blunder of the same level, probably worse, because this could very well damage his career. Organizations might put up with a super star going to great lengths to damage his team's reputation, but few, if any in my opinion, would put up with a rotation player, one that they gave a huge contract to, blasting that team for all the world to see, ignoring the logical reaction... a private request for a public apology. Calling Mr. Lin a drama queen in this instance would not be an over reaction. As a fan of Jeremy, I have to say that he has let me down. The man still has some growing up to do.
Just curious, Lin simply quoted a bible verse that refers to manning up when things go badly...how does that get interpreted as Lin whining?
To be fair, he has been pretty professional during his tenure as a Rocket. I guess he only did it since he knows he will be traded soon.
You don't have to buy it. I know how Philly fans are... Rockets fans are much nicer. Lol. That team hasn't won a championship since the 80's but they are not use to tanking. Sam can't keep pulling that 5h1t. And not only is MCW better than Lin but Lin may not be able to dominate the 2-guard spot with Woten and Anderson on the team. The Rockets didn't lose to Portland specifically because of Lin and they should have won despite of Lin. Harden didn't show up and McHale is a terrible coach.
For the folks using the "real world" analogies, let's get it straight. This is not like your boss showing someone your office while you're still employed and using it. This is your boss entertaining a high value prospective employee for an entirely different role. He's not getting your job. He's not getting your office. IF he is hired he'll get your parking spot. His office will be much nicer than yours. His role will be much larger. And IF he's hired you most likely will have to be transferred because the floor will be too crowded. You're not in the office when this happens. You hear about it because the company posts a news letter showing the prospective new guy standing by his fancy car in YOUR spot. You get upset because no one specifically told you this would be happening. However, you knew this guy was getting an interview. You know he's a higher value asset than you. You also knew your boss was trying to get you transferred for months, regardless of who's getting interviewed. A fellow employee that performs more consistently than you has already been transferred. You know this prospect liked to park under a tree (where your spot is). You know that the floor will be crowded if he's hired and there's a good chance you'll be transferred. If it's me I may be a little upset, but rationally I should not have been surprised at this. The company should have done me a solid by letting me know, but there's no way I should be firing off emails to the entire company in response. To me that analogy is a little more accurate.
I think this is a brilliant move. No doubt he wants to move out ASAP. He never said anything unprofessional about the organization since he was signed back two years ago. However, now it is a decent opportunity to do so (still I don't think his response @ TW is unprofessional at all). Who knows what's in DM's mind? He may keep JL for another half season if failing to get big fishes this summer. That could only hurt JL's chance more.
Any response from Lin at that point was a bad idea. His scripture quote was interpreted by many as a passive aggressive reaction. It's best to not say a word to the public and take it up in private with the organization. That's like if you have an argument with a girl you're dating, and instead of talking to you about it directly she gets on Facebook and posts a poem about inconsiderate men and how strong females have to deal with them.
He is whining about a jersey number. This has happened to Scola (Bosh), Beverley (Howard), other Rockets as well but I cant think of at the moment. Lin though, I guess he is no another level than any other ball player this has happened to. So he gets to act like a baby on Twitter and out the very team that gave him all the money he needs in a lifetime. He either feels like he is better than everyone else or he is just immature and not as smart as we all thought. Or maybe he is just butt hurt cause his Twitter handle is JLin7 and number 7 should only be JLin's number.
Anyone who has to resort to quoting the Bible is a b****. Read that bible verse again. It can basically to be summarized as "I've been b****slapped once, so I'll let you b****slap me again." Lin is the ultimate Jesus b****.
Any chance there might be more to this. Morey is pretty ruthless and let's face it what Lin did is NOTHING compared to what Asik did.
The thing that kinda irks me about this is when people (and athletes in particular) use Bible verses to Passive Aggressively retaliate to someone or something. Lin knew that responding with a Bible verse about how he's "turning the other cheek" and then responding to a Twitter follower about how "Yes... he's upset about the jersey #" would get attention, and that attention would create a negative attack on the Rockets. He's announcing the world how he's been victimized essentially. Quoting a Bible verse to the world and telling everyone you are "Turning the Cheek" is far from actually "turning the other cheek". This happens alot with internet/media drama that gets played out in public, and I can't stand it when people use Bible verses as a passive aggressive counter punch.
trolling much? he could have just gone with something from the old testatment, like going after every first born child in the f.o. that would have been gangsta right? y u no have lamb's blood. =/
Howard number was not displayed publicly when hevwas recruited. While melo's number was for public display. It is insulting And lin needed to say something. Usually when an impact player wants a number a current player has. The big time player asks the the number holding player to give it up. Or the otganization does. This has never been done in the history of professional sports. To publicly display a current teams number
