So, we've made our pitch and if it's true that his top priority truly is winning, then i believe our chances look really good. Anyway, just wanted to see how our fans feel about our chances of landing Melo so i've created a poll leading to his decision. Let's vote!
Sorry to say, but I still think he stays in New York, most money, wife, son, big city, weaker conference, there are just too many reasons to stay.
Bulls best fit and best chances to make nba finals Knicks more $ and all talk is around you Rockets good chance of winning NBA finals, but less money and 3rd option
i don't think MELO the best option for our team, and if melo comes, prepare for a drama queen news next year.
if he stays with the Knicks he will never win a title and he should know that. So its either Chicago or the Rockets My gut is he goes with Chicago due to weak conference and being that much closer to New York so his wife and kid doesn't have to really move house. 1. Bulls 2. Rockets 3. Knicks
If I were him I'd choose the Rockets. If he wants to compete it basically rules out NY. Dallas has a nice team with him, but they are old and with him wouldn't be necessarily better than HOU or CHI without him. So between Chicago and Houston the biggest question is health. If he believes in D. Rose I could see him preferring Chicago. Easier conference, a great passing center that doesn't need touches in the post and a great PG. If he is worried about Rose (as he should be after what happened with Stoudemire), HOU is clearly the better choice. Two top 10 players already in place, Parsons, Beverly and Jones should round out a great top 6. Some minimum salary players or rookies should be able to make it an almost complete team. Plus he should get at least a little more money in Houston than he would in Chicago. That being said, I still think it is between NY, CHI and HOU.
I spoke with a a former Knicks assistant coach yesterday. He told me Melo craves the big city and that he thinks it's a done deal he goes to Chicago.
Why is Chicago the best fit? Even if you literally strip down their roster to Rose/Noah/Gibson/McDermott, we can still offer more money while keeping our core. They'd be capped out with only half a roster. Zero bench and a questionable star in Rose. How assured are you that Rose will become his old self when he hasn't played in 2 and a half years? Do you honestly see Melo taking a pay cut to join a decimated Bulls lineup/roster? Melo is 30 and i think he wants to win now. If he's taking that much of a pay cut, why not join the Heat instead?
I really think that either we are going to get Melo, or we are not going to get Melo. I just dont see any other way around it.
The city is a factor because of his wife and kids. Also, you can't ignore that Thibs is a top 3 coach in the league. If I were him, I'd honestly take the paycut and head to Chicago or grab the money, stay in NY and become as revered as Ewing
