And if you were someone important to the company, you would have never been treated that way to begin with, hence it's a non-issue. Important employees resign with cushy going away packages. Irrelevant employees just get the pink slip. In some companies, they get a box to pack their personal belongings as a security guard waits next to escort them out.
This shows how much class and professionalism the Rockets have. Hope Lin gets traded as soon as possible. He is not a good "fit" with this organization.
Totally agree. Just a poor job by the management. I was surprised to see Morey is trying to argue his way out of this.
You should read this and think about how dumb you sound. The NBA does this every year. Every team chasing a star does this every year. The only reason the media is making a big deal out of this is because it is Lin the cultural icon.
They also didn't show the number on the Dwight billboards. Even though it was implied Dwight would take 12 if he signed here, they still didn't show a number
Young players wouldn't care as much of course. I'm more worried about vets want to pursue championship. It will be harder to sell to them if we have a cold blooded track record. Say Paul Pierce, Garnet, Mike Miller or Ray Allen later on perhaps. They don't care about money as much, but risk of being insulted at the end of your career, I would think twice about it.
When Melo says he wanted #7 (according to Morey), would you not want to photoshop that number? Reality is Lin is a goner if Melo came so it's obviously the logical thing to do. Did you guys make such a big deal with Bosh's number and Scola? A lot of this "uproar" is just because of Lin's uniqueness in the league. It's a completely standard thing to do. Was it disrespectful? Yeah, but that's what happens in FA throughout the league.
It's not like the jersey still said Lin on it. Anyways, a player should be entitled to how he feels, regardless of how we feel about it. This is a non issue. Can we get this thread locked please? It's just bait for people to start flaming people.
I understand the difference. To answer your question; no I would not do that to my employees but let's not pretend that this is in any way comparable to day to day business dealings. I can tell you what I wouldn't do; I wouldn't hop on twitter. Lin should have been smarter and you lose all credibility when you do that. If you think the rockets behaved unprofessionally you have to acknowledge Lin did the same
Then they would have to think twice about every single team in the NBA which they won't. KG won't care because he is KG. Lin is an everyday mediocre easily replaceable role player PG that happens to be Asian. That's all there is to it.
Beverly wouldn't of made a circus out of this. Certainly the media wouldn't but it's Tebows little sister Lin we're talking about here.
Pretty classless move on the Rockets' part. Given the history between the 2 players. When you considered, how much the NBA is protective of its image, this was a bad slip-up. I'm always astonished how teams honor average former players with a video "tribute" that have been on their team for just 4-5 years? Thought THAT was going overboard by being overly sensitive. But this move? smh
Double Facepalm Rockets did not do their homework... Carmelo chose to wear #7 because #15 (former NBA team, college) and #22 (high school) were both retired by Knicks #15 is not retired by the Rockets... so that's what his number will most likely be in the hypothetical scenario where he signs with Houston Good job Rockets for possibly insulting Lin AND Melo.
I know some of you think Jeremy Lin is a superstar who has been held back by Coach McFail, and that he's meant a lot to the Rockets franchise. WRONG! Jeremy was a solid starter for one year and a good backup for one year. That's it. Had a few really good games for us, and a few really bad ones. Here's a Tinman-style history lesson. Below is a partial list of some of the PGs who have meant MORE to the Rockets than JLin has: Calvin Murphy - Hall of Fame, NBA Finals, multiple ASGs John Lucas - Division title Tom Henderson - backup PG for a Finals team Allen Leavell - starter for several seasons Robert Reid - starter (yes, as PG) for a year or two Kenny Smith - starting PG for two titles Matt Maloney - starting PG for two division titles Steve Francis - multiple ASGs Rafer Alston - starter for 3.5 seasons, playoffs twice Aaron Brooks - got us into the second round Kyle Lowry - starter for two seasons
Dream is also dream, and he got low balled and offended and we had to trade him. Not every team does it man, I know it is all business, but end of the day, you still need to treat your players like human beings, not just assets, even when you about to trade them.
Apparently DM has a clear plan to move JL at this stage. Good for both parties. It is about time to move on. Tomorrow this whole twitter drama will be replaced by something huge anyway.

More Daryl Morey: "..It's not personal. LOL thinking Melo was insulted. Melo is probably laughing at Lin right now. If anything, Daryl Morey knew exactly what he was doing. His job isn't to appease Lin or LOFs, it's to appease Melo.
If my employer is a "culture icon", I would be ultra sensitive. Stop talking like you are running NBA or foxconn or a large corporation so you know everything about how it works. Of course the media is blowing this out of proportion. But that's exactly why management has to be responsible.
