Beverley was 2nd team all-NBA defense, and he's not a complete zero on the offensive end. He shot 36% from 3, and has that nice little floater in the lane.

Was hoping for a $3-4 million deal. Doesn't look like that will happen, and probably means the Rockets can't afford him.

At first I was bit skeptical but then I realized he's 23. He is as close to a lockdown defender as there is, and he improved his 3pt shot dramatically. It shows that he is willing to put in the effort to improve rather than becoming just another good defender who can't do anything else.

He's also a FANTASTIC person to pair with Rajon Rondo, given that he cn hit the 3 and does not need the ball in his hands ever. They will form a lockdown backcourt, and they can interchange defending the 1 and 2 positions.

Personally I think they could have gotten it done at 4 years $28m, but really with this kind of track record, personality and age I don't think the Celtics will ever regret this signing.

One thing is clear now, the Celtics plan to build their team through trade and draft rather than the FA market. Otherwise makes no sense to sign a role player to a long contract when your only big star is Rondo. OTOH you could make a case for the Celtics as a Pistons-like team as Rondo, Bradley and Sullinger seem to have excellent team qualities and can excel on both sides of the court.

PatBev only plays the PG position, which is extremely stacked in this current NBA whereas Avery's natural position seems to be the 2 guard, albeit undersized, which, along with the center position, seems to be lacking.

Avery can still improve his D which is already good, and he's got a solid shooting form which will likely become more consistent, sooner rather than later. These type of guys will get paid or are already getting paid: George Hill, Aflallo, courtney lee.

If Lowry can be had for only $11-12 mil/yr then I don't think the Rockets can pass it up especially when Avery Bradley is getting $8 mil. I think he makes more sense than Melo too.

Is Bradley's deal similar to Wes Mathews? Quality 3+D swingman.

Seems like a lot for a swingman but this market...

I'm sure everyone would take Bradley with ease. Age, progression over the last couple years. He's clearly better than Beverley, and he's likely to keep improving.

Love you Bev but if you're getting 8 mil you can kiss Htown goodbye.

Man I didn't realize how good of a shooter Bradley is. Not bad, not bad.

Interesting ... Boston must know they are about to move Rondo somewhere ...

Bradley obviously locked in as starting SG now
No way they draft Smart in top 10 to kick-start rebuilding as their new star face-of-the-franchise, then make him a 6th man all season, right?
And no way Rondo is cool riding the pine or playing less than 30 MPG as 'starter' in name only, right?

Wonder what Ainge has planned for next move with Rondo?
Seems they would want a big back from any deal
Is this just another chip to sweeten the pot to get Love?
Can Bradley be traded so soon after resigning as RFA?

This highlights the importance of money being able to consistently find rotation players through the draft.

Eric Bledsoe is one of my favorite players in the league at the moment, he is just all around awesome.

So is Curry, he's being paid $10 million this year, as a top 10 player in the NBA. Unreal.

I like Avery Bradley a lot. My only concern with this is his injury history. Very troubling.

    Is Avery Bradley > Parsons?

This is not a terrible deal for the Celts at all. Young guy, who has improved every season. Is the best 'on ball' defender in the league, and shot 40% from downtown last season, while racking up 15ppg.
He is smart, tough, and improving - what isn't to like?
Having said that, if it was me, I would probably try and start him at $5-6m
