Once melo, lebron, Lowry are settled, teams are about to throw MAJOR money at parsons "mavs, lakers, suns, bulls, magic, hawks etc".... A older often injured Deng is already in the mix to get $10-15 from hawks

Parsons is arguably the best free agent on the market once these top 3 fall

    1. Lebron
    2. Melo
    3. Lowry
    4. Parsons ???

Why do people *like Aldridge get off on saying stupid things like this.

Wow, talk about negatively spinning a logical assumption. We already know that if Parsons were to hit the open market as an UFA, he'd likely get an offer the Rockets couldn't afford. Instead, Aldridge tried to make it sound like Chandler doesn't want to be here. National media strikes again!

Because he's getting to the desperate stage of his career and has realized the only people who stick at ESPN are those who cater to the NBA's main teams and personalities.

It's like he's almost advising GMs on what to do...LOL.
LA should frontload or backload Parson's contract? wow.

He WAS respected and actually well connected in NBA circles years ago. However, when he was dumped by ESPN he lost most of those connections and now tends to rely more on his opinion and less on breaking stories or information.

I wouldn't entirely disregard what he says, but I would look at it in context. In this case, what he is saying does not make much sense.

Assuming Parsons isn't dealt to Minnesota, he will be paid far more than $8,000,000 a year. Chandler Parsons is going to make a lot of money because he is hitting the market at a time when there are more teams with cap space, than elite players available. Further, if the Rockets some how steal Kevin Love or sign Anthony, there is no way they let Parsons walk.... he is a HUGE advantage for the Rockets, because he gives them 3.5 stars and lets the Rockets essentially circumvent the salary cap.

Does the sequence of events matter here? What if someone not in play for LBJ or Melo quickly offers Parsons a lot of money then, I believe, the Rox have 10 days to match.

Wouldn't that contravene their efforts of clear cap space.

Am I wrong in understanding that the Rox can match any Parson's offer and it not jeopardize the hunt for LBJ or Love or Melo if Parsons is contracted AFTER the max player?

You are correct. The sequence matters greatly.

This is true, but if one of the FA is considering Houston they would be aware of this and wouldn't want to potentially hinder their future team.

In his heyday, he was the anti-Stephen Smith. Thoughtful, cool-headed analysis while breaking a few scoops.

Now nobody has time to sit on scoops. Tweet or die. Then race like hell to get new scoops. He's a good reporter, but got stuck b/c he couldn't break stories at the speed of Woj and wasn't the low-brow panderer that fills most of ESPN now.
He can't win the cool-headed analysis demo anymore either, since guys like Zach Lowe have redefined that.

So if any of these MAX rumors are serious, it will happen quickly, right?

... in order to help retain Parson... but that leads to another question..... people talk about Melo as a 4, since when is he a 4?

Respected perhaps, but not particularly knowledgeable or insightful anymore.
All he does now is rehash and regurgitate already available info and then add a healthy dose of his own highly speculative spin.

Correct but parsons doesn't have to sign an offer sheet. He can get an offer and mull it for a while. That gives morey his market value and ability to get other players with the cap. When everything is done and a fa is signed I could see parsons signing the offer sheet and then have it matched immediately.

He had one of his best seasons playing 4 on the Knicks.
