According to Woj, Atlanta seems to be interested in Deng, or is at least getting the cap room to sign someone like Deng. I think it can be safely assumed neither Lebron nor Melo will be going to Atlanta.

A Deng-Millsap-Horford frontcourt looks pretty good for an EC team. If Atlanta can get Gortat, a Millsap-Horford-Gortat frontcourt looks even better.

Atlanta's recent moves make it clear they won't be trading Millsap and are in win-now mode.

Who does that leave us with?????

I hope DM will get Deng as an alternative small 4 and as a 3. He can defend better than Jones and D-Mo. We can also retain Parsons after that. If we get Okafor on top of that, while retaining Lin, we will be in good shape.

I am bringing this up as an alternative plan if the stars refuse to come to Houston.

Does Deng seem like the type of player DM would commit to long-term. Not sold on Deng being the third of a big 3. He's not at Bosh's level. Close, but not quite. I think Atlanta makes him a better offer in terms of $$ and years.

The idea behind that build is to flesh out the team rather than assemble a big 3

    Bev/Lin
    Harden/Daniels
    Parsons/Garcia
    Deng/TJones
    Howard/Okafor

    Not bad

I thought DM was committed to the idea of a legit big 3?

it may not happen this summer.

looks like the rockets are on the outside track for all of the top free agents. barring a love or rondo trade i think we will keep parsons, lin, daniels, and continue to stockpile tradable assets like the NOP pick.

for a love trade, lin's expiring deal / parsons / NOP pick + our own picks / tj or dmo for love + a bad contract isn't such a bad offer.

if they have to trade him, and the warriors and celtics offer's fell apart, ours might actually have a chance. but don't count on it.

most likely, we will be spending the MLE and BAE on a backup center and a 2/3 who can defend the perimeter.

We are out of the Millsap bidding the moment we got rid of Asik I would think.

Just not enough trade asset to entice Atlanta.

I thought Asik plus a good pick for Millsap would make a good deal for both teams. Atlanta have a legit C in Asik and can move Horford ot his preferred 4 position.

Bosh is nothing more than an average PF now. He has been less than a 17pt 7reb player the last 2 years. His points should have gone up this year with Wade not playing as much, but they still went down. For being their only low post option, pretty dissappointing and less than 7 boards a game is pretty bad for a near max player.

Deng has largely disappeared since being traded to the Cavs.
Hopefully it lowers his market value enough to where we can get a discount, but with Atlanta hot on his tail it seems unlikely.

Eh- theyre in the East. They can do well as a medicore team. Not great. Never contenders, but they can be a 3 or 4 seed if they play their carda right

I think Atlanta can be better than mediocre honestly. Adding Deng would be helpful for them.

I don't think they can contend for a title because I don't think they have a single player that's good enough to carry them, but a healthy Hawks team with Deng is pretty nice.

    Look at the East --

Teague/Deng/Milsap/Horford + all of their really good complimentary pieces

That's easily a top 4 team out there. Easily.
