So I guess they want to play Wiggins at the 2 and Parsons at the 3...??? Irving, Wiggins, Parsons. May not be a bad 1,2,3 lineup. A lot of length.
I'd rather have him as a restricted FA than an unrestricted FA though. If it was restricted this year or restricted next year, I would agree with you. But it is not. Plus I fully expect the Magic (the team he grew up rooting for, his hometown team) would make a run at him and him being unrestricted really does scare me.
Never know. They signed a hot new coach, they have an all star point guard _ that may be a playoff team with Parsons in the east and he gets the opportunity to be a #2 option. And if they offer him $12-14 million a year _ the Rockets would be crazy to match it.
I completely forgot about Orlando... Have there been any reports that they are after him...? That's a place where Parsons may "want" to be. Besides Houston of course.
Here are the teams with enough cap space that IMO may offer Parson an eight figure salary (10million +). Not included are Philly and Utah, despite having tons of cap space, I doubt either team will want to spend it for long term contracts this year. Pheonix - cap space - 35 million (Bledsoe RFA, Frye UFA) Orlando - cap space - 28 million Dallas - cap space - 25 million (still have to resign Dirk) Charlotte cap space - 20+ million Detroit - cap space - 20+ million (monroe rfa) Lakers - cap space - 20+ million Atlanta - cap space - 15 million Cleveland cap space - 13 million Teams like the lakers, cleveland and suns are IMO most likely to offer Parsons a big contract to try and take him from the Rockets. All three teams want to WIN NOW and have openings at the 3 spot. Wouldnt be surprised if Cavs overpaid and offer 12+ million per to have a shot. I doubt Parsons would want to play for Cleveland but he'd be foolish not to sign the offer and force the Rockets to match (ie.. jeremy lin with the rockets/knicks)
So I'm not really understanding what declining the option means, in terms of getting a marquee FA to our team. Do we now have more money to spend? I know every cent counts, but it wasn't like Parsons was making that much anyway, right?
Oh god our worst fears were realized. We whiffed on EVERYBODY. And now we're going to pay Max Money to Parsons. This is our "big three"! So ****ing disappointed. Can we at least get Luol Deng. Please, please salvage this horrible horrible situation Morey.
Even to placate (1) Parsons for getting Howard or (2) Fegan as the agent of the guy who got us Howard, Morey wouldn't've RFA'd Parsons without a wink and a nod beforehand.
Love and Aldridge are the main ones that come to mind. We thought Dwight was a lock to stay with the Lakers when they got him. Things change a lot in a year.
The Rockets would match that offer for Parsons in a heartbeat. They aren't going to be under the cap in a long time after this offseason and he's a key piece of the core. He's not going anywhere unless he gets a max offer, which won't happen.
We haven't actually missed out on anyone yet, and there's no reason to believe we're paying Parsons the max. Patience, sir. Patience.
I'm going to go ahead and strike out LBJ as everyone has. Melo is literally a coin flip. Love, I really don't know if we have the pieces. I really hope Parsons doesn't pull a douche move and sign an offer sheet from another team like Lin did lol. I'm just going by what Doc Rocket has said, his source is really the only one I'm going by and cyberx is nowhere to be seen. Just wish July 10th would hurry up.
