If I believe Melo's earnestness in wanting to join a contender and wanting to get paid, he will most likely pick between Chicago and Houston. Dallas and New York are essentially f'd with their aging stars, and not even the great PJackson can prevent their star from leaving. No other team will be able to do much of anything else. Yes even Miami, especially after all their stars have opted out.

PS. man if Melo comes here to Houston, that would be the second top FA to bolt from a major market to Houston in consecutive years. Houston's hate cred dramatically increases.

If Gasol was going to play for $3.2/year or anything remotely close to that it wouldn't be for the Knicks. It would be for the Heat, Rockets, Thunder, Clippers, Pacers, or just about any contending teams that would do that deal in a heart beat. I expect Gasol to command $10 million at the minimum.

Parsons is officially a free agent:

Ok, so if they don't get any big FA's, then the only salary contracts of any size left on the roster are going to be Lin and Parsons (assuming Parsons gets something in the $10M+ range).

It's could be tricky if Morey and Co. swing and miss going into the 2015 FA season.

Why we gave away Asik if we got nothing big in FA?

1st rounder we got is a better trade piece for any contingency plan. No hassle surrounding salaries or fit

I can almost guarantee that Parsons will wait on the Rockets.

Morey's plan is screwed though, if Chandler gets offered quickly. It will be interesting to see what happens if that is the case.

The Rockets will have three days to match, and most likely three days to get there big FA.

No one can sign him to an offer sheet till the 8th. The Rockets then have 3 or 5 days (I've heard both from different sources).
That's plenty of time. We will know by then where the big free agents are going. That's if Chandler even sign an offer from another team. He's not going anywhere.

Exactly, but do we lose bird rights if we make him unrestricted?

Is it possible for Parsons and his agentt to hold off offers for a week or 2? Doesn't the player have to sign something to allow the offer go through, like a team or a cheap contract that Parsons doesn't want can't just make a offer without his 'ok' on it.

So we should be good right?
