What will Van Gundy do with the Francis/Mobley Issue. Will he break up the duo, and get Mobley coming off the bench? What do you think?

-- I think he will probably play Yao Ming 40 Mins a game, and make Francis play the 2 guard, and demand the Rockets to bring in a Decent Point Guard. Leaving Mobley coming off the bench....

i think so too.. but, there is also the other side, where he will trade cat for a 2 guard and stick with SF on point. either way, ihope he makes a good decision about our prob with steve and cuttino.. not to mention, mooch..

Assuming he does, in fact, sign on here in Houston I expect that Cat will be traded and Spree brought in, but in a separate deal.

I also expect Stevie to remain at the 1, at least most of the time.

He was able to play Allan Houston and Latrel Sprewell at the same time, I see no reason why he won't play mobley and francis as well. The biggest difference is that VanGundy loves to control the offense and doesn't allow for alot of improvisation. So I could see Francis and VanGundy knocking heads over that.

I was listening to 610 and they asked him that question at the press confrence today and he pretty mutch dodged the question.
He also mentioned that question during one of the TNT broadcast of the rockets, so at least he has thought about it. If he works with Steve and thinks Steve should be at the 2 then I think he will do that. That was never really an option to Rudy. So I guess we will have to wait and see.

Why do you assume that Van Gundy will bring in Spree just because he's coached him before?

I don't think there's much Spree brings to the table that Cuttino's not capable of doing. I'd be surprised if Van Gundy would try to trade a cheaper, younger player for an expensive, older one just because he's familiar with one.

I too am very interested though in seeing what Van Gundy will do with Cuttino. I think of the three options of status quo, trade, or bench, I'd like to see Cat come off the bench, find a quality third guard (preferably point) and give substantial minutes to all three (a la Steve, Cat and Mooch from the season before).

i think JVG and CD will hold off on trades to see what jeff can do/likes about our current team.

but then again we may trade:

cat, griff, rice, and moochie for alvin williams, antonio davis, vashon lenard, a future 1st and cash!

Why not Yao Can Handle them 40 Mins... Hes got be out there and the offensive needs to be Centered around Yao Ming 75% of the time down court.

    1) Yao can't handle 40 mpg. At least he couldn't last season. Even with the playing time he was given he was largely ineffective late in games. He needs to knock off his Chinese National Team crap and rest and get in shape during the offseason.

    2) JVG has publicly stated how much he likes Cat. I don't see him moving him to the bench or trading him. Cat's only problem is that Steve is a horrible point guard, which hardly seems like Cat's problem at all.

Cats problem is that he thinks that he is somewhat close to a star.

He could defect. I don't think he will, but it has been done before. Wang Zhi Zhi blew off his NT commitments.

I don't think anything will happen with Mobley and Francis except Van Gundy will try to change the way they play.

The players can't be in control of the system. The coach is.

At the same time, the players have to believe in the system.

What do you think will happen? Mobley is a Black Hole and wont defere to the Center , Francis is poor at passing, playmaking and defence.

They both are ball hoggers. Nobody is involved at the guard position who can get the whole team involved. Mobley/Francis come up looking to score every time. We were last in assist.!!

JVG is a tough guy. He will tell Steve and Cat what to do. If they do not follow, he will sit them down.

The problem of course is that Yao has too much commitment, and he is no where near a consistent player.
