Just saw that Francis is .1 away from being tied for team leader in rebounds, .2 away from being the leader. Let us suppose he raises it a little, Hakeem keeps his about where they are, and no one else has a huge rebounding surge (Kenny or Mo) - Has anyone ever lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals (and turnovers?). I know Oscar Robinson averaged a triple double, but I do not know if anyone on his team had a higher rebound total - I would guess they did, it being the era of high rebound numbers. Just curious... ------------------ EZLN
Great trivia question!! I don't have a good web NBA stats reference, but the first player I'd check would be Wilt. My memory recalls that he was a pretty fair passer (when he wasn't scoring 100!). ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited January 03, 2001).]
I think KG either did just that last year, or came really close. also Lamar Odom is always leading the clips in all catagories. including steals blocks and probably freethrow % ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball http://www.hanta-force.com
He would be in good company. The great Scottie Pippen did it last I think, in 94/95 (also lead team in blocks, threes, free throws, etc.). And he's one of the 50 best players of all time. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
Mo T led the Clips in scoring in 1999. Odom currently leads the Clips in points, steals, blocks, total rebs. McInnis has him on assists by .3/game. Miles, McInnis, and Parks all shoot better from the field and Odom is 6th in FT%. Lamar does lead in TO's! Brandon lead KG in steals and assists in 1999 and is currently ahead in 2000-2001. ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited January 03, 2001).]
I forgot about the Pippin possibility because he did not have Jordan, Grant (or a strong 4 or 5 for boards), or a good pg. ------------------ EZLN
I'm pretty sure wilt did, because one year he led the league in rebounds and I think he led his team in steals, and I know for a fact he led his team in scoring. And for the Francis thing, you can add free throws too (he is shooting almost 90%). Steve is third in blocks too (won't get close to Dream though). ------------------ This is ktfirstbsktof01. Rimbaud, Larry Bird did it twice and nearly 3 times.
Reb Ast Stl Pts 79-80 1 2 1 1 (Archibald) 80-81 1 2 1 1 (Archibald) 81-82 2 2 1 1 (Parish, Archibald) 82-83 1 1 1 1 83-84 2 1 1 1 (Parish) 84-85 1 2 1 1 (Johnson by 12 assists) 85-86 1 1 1 1 86-87 2 2 1 1 (Parish, Johnson) 87-88 1 2 1 1 (Johnson) DNP 89-90 2 1 1 1 (Parish) [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited January 03, 2001).]
Can't believe I forgot the most recent example: Grant Hill. He lead Detroit in points, assists, rebounds, and steals twice (in 95/96 and 96/97), and came within 6 steals of repeating the feat in 98/99. Of course he might fall short of that mark this season. ------------------ "Thirty-seven?" -Randall, Clerks www.clutchtown.com
rimmy, sorry to further take away the amazement of this feat, but George McGinnis did it in 75-76 and was .2 ppg of doing it the year following.
Yeah, GHill was really obvious - oops. heyp, You are a crusher - you are just rubbing it in ecause i am too lazy to look it u myself. Cheers. ------------------ EZLN
not rubbing it in, just this is the best thread of the past 2 weeks, so I had to study up to contribute in a manner worthy of content. Larry Bird was the BEST, Mobley SUCKS!
