I kinda want him on the lakers now. Lowry Kobe backcourt would actually be pretty productive and tough for oppositions to deal with if Kobe gets back to full strength (which as a basketball fan I hope he does, nba is better for it) But they would have roughly 35 million tied up in their backcourt for the near future. Add to that roughly 5 guys on min contracts and that bumps it up to 40 million. Then throw in the random 5-10 million contract that every team has and now lakers don't have max money for anyone else in the Kobe era. Would be a terribale move to win a chip. Nba generates more money when the lakers are a playoff-contender team and players get a certain % of all revenue every year so players like hardens who salary is dependent on the cap should embrace a healthy lakers so he makes more money
I'd be really interested to see how Kobe and Lowry would get along chemistry-wise and lockerroom-wise. Wouldn't this be the first time Kobe has ever played with a legit pg? (Nash prob doesn't count because he hasn't been nearly full-strength since joining the Lakers)
IMO Kobe gets a bad rap by the nba community as a bad teammate and chemistry killer. Same thing that harden gets, both play unselfishly however because they have to carry a large burdon of the offence they are automatically bad teammates? Never understood it. Kobe proberbly needs a really PG now with his age climbing someone to run more possessions and allowing him to rest more. I'm all aboard Lowry to LA
So the Lakers have gone from "We just got Steve Nash and Dwight Howard!" to "No way Dwight Howard leaves!" to "We want Kyle Lowry in the year of Melo/Bosh/LeBron FA!" And in a span of 2 years no less. Damn that's impressive.
sucks for us if true. lowry will be about the money this summer after years of being underpaid. how could he turn down a big offer in a major market like that? plus he'd be the second banana there as opposed to 3rd or 4th best on better teams. i'm holding out hope for melo but i have a sense from everything i'm reading that lebron stays in miami, melo prefers the bulls, lowry to lakers, wolves find the celtics to have the best offer for love, celtics don't want to trade rondo after acquiring love. lin and asik stay one more year, we use the MLE on sefalosha or frye
Lowry needs to be a Rocket. If not, then there BETTER be a plan for Rondo. A playmaking PG is our biggest need right now
Kobe's big contract really hurts the Lakers. Lowry would need to take a discount and pray that some other good players join. I don't see this happening. That said, both players have winning mentalities, and I do not think there will be any disputes off the court.
Lakers are going to be trash. I don't see Lowry taking a discount to play there and have a lower chance of winning.
