Channing Frye to opt out of his contract.. made just over 6M this year. Obviously looking for something in the 4-5 year contract at similar numbers.. wonder if he'll go for the rox MLE. I would love to see him on the rox.

Frye is likely looking for a starting gig though. Would he have that here?

at this point, probably yes. I think Jones proved in the playoffs he wasn't ready for the big time, unless he or DMo take a huge step forward, I think Pf will remain our team's weak spot. What a change from the days of Scolandry.

To inconsistent for the MLE if you ask me. He looks like Nick Cannon lol.

He would be a solid option for MLE if the Rockets S&T for Melo or Lebron. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense.

beware of contract year performances. frye's inconsistency goes by years. i'd expect him to be a bust signing in the first year of his new contract if he leaves the suns.

This is what I was thinking but why would he sign here to come off the bench behind Melo?

He'd be a good fit next to Harden and Howard as long as his heart condition is under control. He is a stretch 4, but don't expect him to do anything else you would expect from a power forward. He certainly isn't going to rebound for you. He isn't a player worth breaking the bank over so they won't over pay. Frye, Patterson, and Ilyasova are guys out there that can stretch the floor from that spot when Jones doesn't have it going. Jones could be dynamic off the bench as a spark too. Hopefully they can get one of them here. Ilyasova can actually rebound too so that is plus in his favor. Not sure who the best defender out of this group is. Patterson I'd guess, but he isn't going to stop anybody either.

Except for the fact he didn't exactly have a career year, he's been consistently averaging 10-12 PPG and 5-6 rpg.. In terms of scoring he's actually had 3 years where he averaged more PPG, and 4 years where he's averaged more rpg. Anyway, point being he's been consistent in his production in the last 4 years he's played.

you've misread, i never mentioned a career year. consistency includes staying healthy and that has not been the case including his last 4 years.

If we have to give up Jones in the package, there could easily be 30 minutes for Frye. Parsons and Melo would split the 48 at SF, so ideally Melo gets at least 13mpg there and another 22mpg at PF. Leaves another 26 at PF and maybe garbage minutes at C for Frye when the other team doesn't have a true post on the floor. I would think he is most worried about playing time and not starting vs. 6th man.

cant be that hard to stay away from the channing frye kool aid. are you *** serious? i thought frye had a hard time

if he'll come off the bench, a ta much smaller contract, then he's good for it.

Damn. Dude opted out of 6mil per year. Haven't followed him this past year but I would have thought 6mil was overpaying. Just how much does he think he's worth?
