Kobe had one thing that MJ and Lebron didn't have.

Why do we always feel the need to compare players to eachother? Kobe was not as good as MJ or LeBron, but he was still a pretty damn good basketball player.

Kobe has done enough to be a living legend. To put his longevity in perspective, he was drafted in the same year Tupac was shot and a few years removed from the Rockets repeats.

Totally hate him as a person.

MJ is still the GOAT. You guys need to stop including him in these conversations.

Also, efficiency be damned Kobe still won more than Lebron has to this point. Losing with high shot efficiency is not better than losing with low shot efficiency

Lebron has never had the luxury of being the 2nd best player on his team.

A wade/bosh led team would destroy the Lakers led by Pau. And I'm a huge Pau fan.

I think the Lakers take it fairly easily. The Heat would have no answer for the Odom/Gasol/Bynum frontcourt. Lakers would dominate rebounds and points in the paint.

So, I guess we are gonna ignore 50ppg 25rebs per in a season by wilt? I guess we will also ignore the triple double season by Big O? Its generational. Ask anyone 60+ and mj never enters the convo. Ask someone my age(43) and you get mj,magic, bird, duncan,or dream. Ask anyone sub 30 and you get kobe, lbj,or durant. Fact of it, a 30 yr old wasn't old enough to tell mj greatness because thy were 12 when he retired.

Nope try again. A Wade/Bosh team would have absolutely zero answer for Pau Gasol/Andrew Bynum lead team. But hey, your allowed to have your opinion.

Okay... Players like Wilt and MJ should be included in conversations as GOAT. But Lebron and Kobe really don't reach that level.

If you really want to argue this though... Wilt only has 2 rings despite his incredible numbers. It is still very debatable though since he was such a powerhouse however you cannot just ignore MJ's rings.

Birdman is pretty damn good for a faster pace Heat team yet they never figured out a way to have Bosh and Birdman @ the same time as twin towers? Bosh can step out and shoot for godsake and I think Haslem, Beasely and Odom could play spot up back minutes.

And Lebron/MJ had other dominant wings to play with which Kobe never got.

Wilt did that against a bunch of 6'4 slappies. Bill Russell is 6'9; in today's NBA you're looking at a Ben Wallace type.

Athleticism has continued to go up and up ever since sports were invented. The late 70's/early 80's marks a plateau, however, and in the 90's you could make the argument that players were focusing too much on their bodies and less on their skills (mid-range jumper, post moves, etc). That's why most people my age (29) still give credence to the superstars of the late 80's. For GOAT you can allow a Magic or Bird into the conversation, and certainly a guy like Abdul Jabaar who had unguardable skills (much like Nowitzki's shot). It gets shakier if you get to the era of Dr. J, and I will just laugh at you and call you out of touch with the times if you try to make a case for anybody before that.

Russell was a legitimate 6'9". The measurements then were done barefoot, and not with the extra 1.5 to 2 inches that players now get when measured in their shoes. He's easily taller than Dwight.

In 1972-73, when Wilt won his second championship, the 6'4" slappies he played against included Kareem, Dave Cowens, Willis Reed, Elvin Hayes, Walt Bellamy, Bob Lanier, Nate Thurmand, and Wes Unseld. Do you seriously think the centers of today are a better crop? Do you think that they are taller or bigger?
