    For all you anti-JVG people, if he is hired as we all think he will be, lets not bash the guy. We need to support him and hopefuuly he'll do a great job and prove you anti-JVG people wrong. True Rox fans will stand by him because we back our team that much. and i don't care if we do play "ugly ball", as long as we play "ugly ball" all the way the NBA finals. Now if he fails as our coach, then let the bashing begin...................!

    I don't think ugly ball will win. It's not the 90s anymore - the NBA has moved on.

    Word -

    You can't possibly bash what he might do here yet, given he hasn't actually done anything. See how the team looks a few weeks into the season first.

    Personally, I think we'll look improved.

    I don't see either the Nets or the Spurs playing ugly ball.

    "True Rox fans" are still upset over the manner Rudy Tomjanovich was treated. :D

    This (probable) move does nothing to I change my opinion that this club will not be in the '03 - '04 playoffs...

    The Spurs are not the "prettiest" of teams. What game are you watching??

    More people probbaly think they do infact play a form of ugly ball, and it gets them 58 plus wins every year and this year, a championship.

    I agree that we should support him. Because if I say one bad thing about him now that he is the coach,I get flamed by insecure people that have rose colored glasses on.

    Rudy T stepped down and is getting paid $6 million or so to scout. Do not feel bad for him! He really needed a break anyway.

    1. The Rockets don't have the personnel to run the offense the Nets run. ex. Jason flippin Kidd

    2. The brand of ball the Spurs play sure isn't pretty,

    First, I dont think we can play more ugly than the way we played last year.

    Second, "beautiful" ball doesn't win the championship either, defense does.

    (1) I still can't believe the day has arrived when we will hire a Knick reject. It's the curse of Yankee ownership;

    (2) JVG is overrated. His rep is soley the product of East Coast media hype. Had he done what he did in Memphis or Phoenix, his name would not even be in the hopper right now;

    (3) JVG is not an upgrade on Rudy T; and

    (4) Was Ewing jonesing for a job or what? If this guy ends up on the Houston bench, I'm going to be ill. Ewing is/was the enemy. I started hating him when he was part of that cheating John Thompson-led Georgetown club that knocked off UH. I increased hating him as soon as he went to NY via "the fix." Hating him stayed easy when people kept putting him on a par with or even rated him above Hakeem. Please (yet even more East Coast media hype). Then he almost kept us from the Title. And to top it off, who can ever forget when he, as the union rep, wore those stupid glasses even though he has 20/20 vision? He thought it made him look smart! What a fraud. Let's put it this way, Ewing's IQ will ensure he will never be executed. Please stay east of the Mississippi.

    JVG is tough and holds his players accountable. Wasn't that a criticism of Rudy T...that he wouldn't do that? That he was too soft on his guys?

    JVG never had the talent on the Knicks that the Rockets do now.. He had a tired, old Patrick Ewing and no point guard....Stevie isn't the prototypical point guard, but I guarantee that every knicks fan would love to have a guy with his talent...

    I disagree. The Knicks had a very talented threesome that could score in bunches. Sprewell, love him or hate him, is quite a player when he is "on." While lacking a superior big man, they still had at least some talent in the paint.

    Personally, I think sixers' games are uglier. Their whole game is AI driving cluelessly and shotting like crazy and Snow pulling up a few jumpers here and there and not much else. If that is the criteria, JVG does much better than Brown.

    All together now: "He was FORCED OUT against his will..."

    LB would've been an equal or slight plus. JVG is a minus. Add in the time necessary to get everyone on the same page, and the result is another lottery season.

    I hope he comes in and does well. I just don't see it. I root for the club, but ALSO think Alexander made a mistake. JVG will get my respect as the head coach, but the fan in me sees no reason to "stand behind him." He gets ZERO extra slack.

    Don't make the mistake worse by giving him a deal longer than a couple years, and don't be reticent to remove him from the position if this club does not perform to Les' stated "potential."

    I'd give LB a plus range and JVG same to minus range..but everything else I agree with. I hope he does well. I will root for the Rockets, but I see another lottery year ahead. He will get my respect as a head coach when he earns it by doing more with the Rockets than Rudy has done the past couple of years - the same and or less is not moving forward. And I do hope that whoever they sign, that it would be a relatively short contract unless your signing a sure thing (no more Moochie contracts for coaches).
