No, they lost to the Celtics in 1969 when Jerry West won FMVP. They lost to the Knicks in 1970 and 1973.
to me its Duncan double double in 3/4 games leonard was great in games 3/4 but was not a factor at all in 1 and 2 which makes a huge different for me. duncan's worst game was in game 3 when the spurs were running away in a rout even then it was a pretty respectable game. Duncan has been the most consistent and has made a difference on the interior. If the spurs close it out in 5 and he has another double double it would be hard for me to see him not winning it
I'm hoping Duncan wins the FMVP. Kareem won FMVP in 1971 and again in 1985, a 14-year gap. Duncan would top that by a year if he wins it.
I immediately thought the Spurs team. But then I thought about Pop, although hes a coach, I think this is the rarest of all situations. No Coach deserved in the history of the Nba Finals but him.
Duncan has been the most consistent but the media has been hyping Kawhi Leonard so much that will sway the voters.
@ZachLowe_NBA: Feel like Parker is being overlooked in Finals MVP discussion. Solid to great in all four games so far. No clue who will win if Spurs close.
Duncan, Leonard, and Diaw are all solid candidates and Lowe is correct. Parker should be in the mix. This offense takes away some of his assists, but he initiates so many plays with his drives and passes. The Spurs just make three more passes before taking the shot so Parker doesn't get any box score love. But the spurs say **** the box score! Imagine how much money you could have made by betting $c100 that Boris Diaw would be finals MVP. I'm kind of rooting for him as the most unexpected finals MVP ever. If I had to guess, whichever one of those four players has a stellar game 5 and seats the voters. Otherwise it'll be nostalgic old Duncan or the exciting young Leonard because NBA voters are usually pretty predictable.
