    VAN GUNDY OFFERED JOB:

610 Is reporting the job is his if he likes the city and wants the job. The Rocks are meeting with dunleavy's agent today in chicago (i think they said chi town) but it is just as a fallback if Van Gundy doesn't want the job. That's it......it is his if he wants it.

I think it is obvious he does want it. Does 610 have actual new information or is this just speculation that has grown into fact?

610 said (as close to a quote as I remember) "the rockets said Van Gundy will be offered the job tomorrow when he visits and it is his as long as he likes the city"

Good news. Lets get this finalized so I can stop worrying about Larry Smith being the last option for our coach.

Here is the paragraph off the 610 site

"The Rockets have invited Jeff Van Gundy back to town for another visit. Van Gundy wants to get a better look at the city, the arena, schools, etc. Mike Dunleavy is (was) the other candidate. GM Carroll Dawson tells Sports Radio 610 that the job is Van Gundy's if he likes the city of Houston."

    this blows!!!!!!
    get ready for ugly ball.....
"and you thought that a piston's game was excrutiating to watch"....

we r now getting a coach that frequently ran the iso with allan and spree...
steve and cuttino are now sitting pretty with the ability to drive this franchise into the ground...while yao will either ask for a trade, or leave after his contract has expired...

    yao--now the next camby
griffin--now the next kurt thomas(pre this year)

WHAT A WASTE OF TRULY GREAT POTENTIAL

    Man you are r****ded.

I wish Camby had Yao's talent, really, I do.

I doubt Griffin will ever be as good as Kurt Thomas, maybe JVG can make him grow a pair.

I could care less if we're ugly. I just want to win.

In any case I don't think we'll be as ugly as some of you are saying. I can't imagine our offense being uglier than it was for most of last year. I still think it's best to be a half-court team 1st and fast break 2nd in order to utilize Yao as best as we can.

Van Gundy is going to make Yao injury-prone?

dont hold your breath. Ive seen recent interviews where Gumby doesnt like our city because its dead at night

even though i perfer MD, the one positive i love about gumby is that he makes his players play like men instead of girls like dunleavy and rudy do

so hopefully griffin and yao can play more aggressive, but i still think we need a offensive genius to make plays because i remember vividly Gumby a few years ago say he wanted to use sprewell as a PG and Houston as SG and Rice as sf. Spreewell a pg? wtf?

Ugly ball? As opposed to the beautiful team-ball the Rockets were playing last few seasons?

your name is nykrule...and im r****ded???

i misworded my post and edited it...my point is that now with gundy as the coach, yao will be used in the eastern conference mold of big men like camby...yao has the talent to be one of the greatest centers of all time...griffin is vert talented as well...but these players can only go as far as they are used by their coaches and pt guards...last year showed us that stevie and cuttino will rarely pass to yao, now with a defensive eastern conference minded coach steve and cat wont even be told to make yao the focal pt of the offense.....

this is why i ended my post with "what a waste of trully great potential"

read through an entire post before commenting on it!!!!!

Can we start making a list of all the people declaring the end of the franchise with this hiring and see where we are at the end of the year? This is probably similiar to the time last year when people were saying Yao would be Shawn Bradley part II.

OK, let's not have CD take him around.

Let's have Stevie show him the night spots.
Ask EG to bring some good stuffs along too. :)
