    That is absolutely false.
We found mobile labs, which proved he had a WMD program.
I don't think that happened either.
Hmmmmmmmm, nevermind. I am going to eat some bacon in your honor.

It amazes me as well. This country was built on questioning the actions of the federal government. It's been going on for the entire history of this country, because we have the freedom of speech to do so. Now the Republican majority wants to quell any and all free speech that questions the actions and policies of the Bush Administration. To me, that's about as Un-American as you can get.

MM..you know that in the past you and I have reached some common ground on stuff, and you know that i am not among those who defended Clinton, but I am noticing a developing pattern in your posts on these issues.

Whenever anything which supports the anti-war argument is posted you respond by saying you are weary of the whole thing, that there is no point, that you won't even debate the issue, that's it's a moot point, etc. You come off all tired of the whole thing, and won't even bother to argue the points like no WMD finds, etc. on that basis...and that's fine, I sympathize, and it's certainly your right.

But then you keep taking these random shots...and I have even noticed your opinion creeping into the middle of your " Why do we bother " declarations...and I'm not saying you're doing it on purpose, but it smacks of someone saying " Ok...let's agree to disagree..ok?....Because we are both convinced we're right, so let's not dance the same dance anymore, all right...let's just let it alone...even though you're wrong and I'm right.

Do you see what I mean?

Tell me how your freedom of speech has been abridged. If you can cite one example, I will jump off Republic Bank Building.

    I promise.

I totally see what you mean....I'm just not as tired today. Plus I'm waiting on a phone conference that starts soon, and I don't want to dive into anything else before then.

But also understand, this argument here is not about whether or not WMD existed...it's about whether or not we were lied to...and what it would mean if we were...and who else "lied" to us on the very same issue...namely, the clinton administration...the weapons inspectors...and bipartisan commissions in congress.

MM, do you believe there is a difference between lying about WMD and lying about WMD as a pretext to war?

hmmmm, *putting on my Democrat advisor hat*

I think the buzz word for the next election should be "Dubyaous".

I wonder if James Carville will hire me?

really??? that's so morbid. i agree that there are conservatives out there who love to slam clinton...but i was genuinely upset during the whole impeachment process. seemed so dirty..so disgraceful. i voted for clinton the first time, and it confirmed to me everything that those who voted against him warned me about regarding his character. i thought that was awful.

i really don't like hillary...but bill...i don't hate bill. i feel sorry for him in a lot of ways...he's sort of a tragically flawed shakespearean character.

i do, however, enjoy bashing the cowboys, the jazz and the cardinals. that's just good clean fun.

Go ahead John...tell me that you don't think the Patriot Act is a measure that is in part used to quell voices of dissent.

Then get your jumping shoes on!

Its only a matter of time before the investigations into "Bush's Lies" begin here as well.

Please, now Clinton and the UN are to blame. I suppose if they find WMD's Clinton and the UN will get the credit right? Somehow everything bad seems to be Clinton and the UN's fault.

Where are you people getting this crap about the Weapons inspectors lying to us. They never said WMD's existed or didn't. Their job was to determine this and given enough time and some patience they might have completed the job.

I don't recall the Clinton administration faking documents or using an old graduate thesis as evidence of an immenent threat to your well being. Even if WMD's were found right now the fact remains that the Bush administration lied and exagerated. As was well put by the article mc mark posted.

Uggh... This thread is so full of bulls*it I'm going to need waders... So I I'll just throw this out there:

Three words: Mobile Biowarfare Production Trailers.

    Or was that four?

You guys who keep throwing out statements like "But we get over there and find NOTHING. NOT A GOD DAMN THING" need to wipe the friggen egg off of your faces and take it like men. I would call finding biological warfare agent production facilities "A GOD DAMN THING", to say the least.

I think that the grasseater is trying to lie to us.

And BTW, was Saddam Hussein a lie too? I mean, we haven't found him either... Therefore he must not exist.

    :p

As far as inspectors not thinking that Iraq had WMD -

What is the current status of weapons inspections in Iraq?

Inspections have been going on for five years at the rate of some two or three inspections a month. The results continually come up that the Iraqis are hiding some weapons, that there's incomplete information being provided by the Iraqis and that there's a strong suspicion of continuing activity with regard to biological weapons and missiles in particular, but also with chemical and nuclear weapons production.

David Kay, previously of the IAEA and UNSCOM

Meeting with New York Times editors and reporters on Monday, Richard Butler, who heads the U.N. weapons inspection commission, cited this incident as one of several cat-and-mouse games that have convinced him that Iraq is determined to hide evidence that it has biological and chemical weapons.

    www.jinsa.org

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is actively developing weapons of mass destruction, a former chief United Nations weapons inspector has warned.

Richard Butler told a US Senate committee that Iraq had stepped up the production of chemical and biological weapons since UN inspections ended four years ago - and might even be close to developing a nuclear bomb.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/2163183.stm

The head of the U.N. Special Commission overseeing the destruction of Iraqi weapons (UNSCOM) said December 19 that he has reason to believe that Iraq may be hiding items related to the banned chemical, biological and ballistic weapons in the presidential sites that have been declared off-limits to U.N. weapons inspectors.

    http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/library/news/iraq/1997/97121909_tpo.html

The only former inspector or inspector you will find who does not believe that Iraq had a WMD program would be Scott Ritter. Yes, the child pornographer who had an abrupt change of face after a mysterious trip to Baghdad on the invitation of Saddam...

Everyone else was/is convinced that they are/were there. Nice try, though.
