I found this interesting, particularly Zen's take on the Rox:

Jackson says Brown could have done better
By Chris McCosky / The Detroit News

SAN ANTONIO -- Count Lakers Coach Phil Jackson among those who feel Larry Brown made a mistake taking the Pistons head coaching job.
"There are a lot of other jobs, really quality jobs, where you can go forward," Jackson said on his weekly radio show, which airs from 6-7 p.m. Mondays on Sporting News Radio. "I don't know how far forward Detroit can get. They do have the second pick and that's an opportunity, but that's probably not going to manifest itself in a year or two.
"This is a team that has overachieved, it's not a team that you would say is on the threshold of being a great team. It's a team that really had to push itself right to its limits to achieve what it has done."
Jackson said he felt Brown could have found a better situation. "I think there are teams in the market there that probably have more talent -- New Orleans as much talent perhaps; Houston definitely with Yao Ming and Steve Francis are a talented team -- that Larry had opportunities perhaps to go to," Jackson said. "I was surprised he took it as quickly as he did and made that decision in Detroit's favor." The Pistons signed Brown to a five-year, $30 million contract Monday. Brown never interviewed for the Hornets job, and he wasn't offered a contract by Houston.

Well...it's to late to complain now. It's over with, there is no way we will have Brown. Time to move on...so we bringing Van Gundy over? That guy wants this job soooo bad.

While it is difficult to sift through Phil's stream of conciousness for deep rooted truths, it is interesting that he would 'take Larry on' this way.

If brown doesn't take his new team to the ECF or get more than 50 wins, I assume that his season will be looked by the media as a failure.

Very true. He's suppose to deliver them to the NBA finals. I don't see him getting along well with mgmt either. He's a flake.

Maybe Phil Jax is hinting on which dynasty he wants to "coach" next? :p ;) :p

Drew, what do you mean? Information while not new can still be real powerful. I like the fact that this further supports my feeling that we were in control and LB may well have been the one who made the mistake. Like Jax said, what is the rush? It also tells me that LB was never offered a contract which some here including Clutch said was offered. They even when as far as saying that money was a problem which is sounding increasingly ridiculous.

    Agreed.

Also, LB is a flake. Albeit an interesting flake.

Wow, Phil Jackson was right about something! I suppose even a broken clock is right twice a day. But, he's right. Carlisle already squeezed out what was to be had on that team; there's no slack for Brown to take up.

This is classic Phil jackson Talk......Phil just told on himself........

Sorry Phil, Every coach is not like you, they actually like a CHALLENGE......

They don't take over teams with superstars already in Place and call themselves Great coaches.(ala Scottie and Mike, Shaq and Kobe)

Of Course Phil would say this, he has never took over a team without Superstar POWER and turned them around, and Probably never will.....So we may never know how good The Zen Masters Coaching skills really are
Put Larry Brown with Kobe and Shaq or Scottie and Mike and he would have 20 rings already

then again what do I know, I'm in a chat forum and he has 9 rings:D ;)

Phil Jackson. I always loved you!

But Larry Brown is just greedy and sees short term stuff....and is getting old.....and the Pistons were already nicely prepared by Rick Carlisle all the way to the Eastern Conf. Finals.....and they are getting Darko or Carmelo.......and yeah......that 8 million bucks.

    Oh well.

Forget you Larry Brown and Smith!

i don't think i want the most overrated sports figure in all of history to coach our beloved rockets. i would like to see him take over the nuggets though. but i guess the only way that would happen is if the nuggets won 60 games and traded or signed garnett and tmac.
