why do so many legends want to coach Yao? Maybe we should refer some of them to Amare. ;)

This is my first post on this site and I have been readin all tha bad mouthin ya'll are doing as regards to Patrick Ewing.Granted the Houston Rockets did snatch away his only chance at winning a title in 1994,Ewing was taugt by one of the best teachers in the game of coaching big men to success(Mutombo excluded.....but hey he is on his is in the Finals),John Thompson. And when you get knowlegde from a man like that you cant help but wonder what Ewing would teach Yao Ming.Look at Alonzo Mourning and what he accomplished the boy is bad and is on of my top ten centers of all time. And how much can Dream teach Yao if he isnt apart f the Rockets staff as a coach?Stop haton on Ewing and understand the big mans game and what Ewing,Malone, and Dream can teach Yao.When he excels to be one of the greatest centers in the game in 3 or 4 years then you can look to Ewing(should VanGundy coach Houston) and whoever else helps this big man blossom.Plus with Van Gundy as coach Houston will jump from 4th(.438%) to number one in the NBA in defense.Van Gundy want tolerate a lazy defense He will make teams think twice about wanting to toy with the Rockets offense or with thier defense.I see Houston winning about 50 or so games this coming season and you can thank Van Gundy for that. It's gonna be beautiful to watch as teams wont be able to just walk over Yao and have to respect his game.

    Rockets Record for 2003-04 Season
50-32(3rd in Midwest and 6th in the Western Conference)

    Speaking of future seasons.

I heard Mike Wilbon predict the Detriot Pistons beating us (in six) in the 2005 NBA Finals today on PTI.

Well, at least one person has faith in us.

Yes it is tacky, and I think that's probably what Ewing was going for. He's obviously openly attempting to get fired. Frankly, I don't blame him.

I think what was said early was spot on. Ewing learned from John Thompson. And while we may hate both of them. You would have to agree that G-Town probably had the best big man program in the business. Those players get together all the time. No doubt they have knowledge that goes beyond the norm. And they were all taught to play hard nose defense. The one thing Yao really needs the most. I would not be afraid to hand the reigns over to Ewing should that happen. He has access to John Thompson.

No way in hell I would accept Ewing on this team.

Hakeem or Malone = yes! Ewing = HELL NO!

Maybe Ewing can teach Yao the secret behind his amazing "Traveling-Without-Nary-a-Call" routine. Now, I'm not saying Ewing had happy feet when he played, but... ok, yes, I am.

This is an outrage. I hope no Houston Rockets' fan would seriously consider this.

Let's say there is this great dog trainer who trained this dog real well to do all neat tricks, including walking on 2 legs, doing cart wheels ....
Would you hire the dog to teach your dog to do the same?

Go hire the darn trainer for peacesake!!
