I hate to say it but the unpredictability is getting a little predictable. Something good looks like it is happening? Bad sign. Grab on to your banner, something terrible is about to happen.
Whenever the Rains of Castamere is played (even by a burping wench) You know some bad **** is about to go down.
This Hate to see a man defending his family get killed in that kind of brutal and unnecessary manner.
Spoiler Alternate ending - (the way I would have preferred it) (As Oberyn rams his spear into the Mountain's chest, and with the murderous giant lying flat on his back) Oberyn: Confess! Confess! You raped and murdered my sister! (Points at Tywinn Lannister) Tell me who gave you the order! Confess! Tyrian: (As Oberyn becomes more and more enraged, dancing around closer and closer to the Mountain) Ahem! Prince Oberyn, a word, if I may. Oberyn: Not now little man, I am beezy! Tyrian: Prince Oberyn, this is *urgent*. Oberyn: Very well, all right, what do you want? Be quick! Tyrian: Over here please, I don't like to shout. Oberyn: Oh for the Gods' Sake! (goes to Tyrian) What is it? Tyrian: I have a personal favor to ask, if you please. Oberyn: What? What? I have pressing business to attend to over there. Tyrian: Yes I know. I would ask, however, before you continue your interrogation of the dying Mountain there.. would you.. take his giant sword there, and chop both his arms off? Oberyn: Chop his arms off? Tyrian: Immediately, if you could be bothered. Oberyn: Why would I do such a thing? Tyrian: Humor me. Plus, he'll suffer greatly, and it will humiliate my father and my sister. And he will be much more likely to confess after you have lopped off his limbs. Cunk Cunk! Oberyn: He'll suffer greatly, you say? Very well, I will chop both his arms off before I step in closer to him any more than I was already doing. (Pick up the Mountain's giant sword, chops off both of the prone giant's arms) To the pain! Tyrian: (muttering under his breath) Thank God. I was starting to have a bad feeling about how that fight was about to finally end. Oberyn: (to the Mountain) Confess, murderer! The Mountain: It was.. it was.. Oberyn: Who gave you the order! Who? The Mountain: Cersei.. Oberyn: Cersei?? The Mountain: ..slept with.. Jaimie.. (groans from all in attendance) The Crowd: We knew that already! The Mountain: (coughs blood and dies) Ughh.. Oberyn: No! No! No! (stabs and kicks at the now dead body) (cut to Tywinn, wearing the slightest sinister smirk, then to Cersei's barely controlled rage, finally to Tyrian, staring at his father with a look of triumph) (Fade to black, begin end credits) Sigh...
The show is running way too low on likeable characters now. Oberyn and Tyrion were fan favorites. Getting to the point where I'm ready for the white walkers to wipe everyone out.
Don't think Tyrion will be executed, would strip the show of one of its greatest characters. He's more important than any person that has been killed thus far. I'm really pissed Oberyn died, would suck to have another great character wiped off.
Yeah...I'm already not a fan of Danerys. Also the whole tease with the Stark sibling reunions almost happening is getting a bit old.
Am I the only person who is fascinated by people who complain and are genuinely upset when their favorite fictional characters get killed?
At this point, I was fully expecting Oberyn to get ****ed up, but I didn't know THAT was coming. I mean Holy ****. I was waking up all night just replaying that in my head over and over again. Love or hate, this show has the ability to make you feel something. That is what you want.
Funny you mention that because that final sequence has been replaying in my head as well. Just like the Red Wedding sequence last year.
nice list of likable surviving characters. Varys should be there, Davos is a good and honest person at heart, Jorah is great too. Although speaking of Davos, where the hell has Gendry gone? He escaped on that raft but has't appeared this season at all. Hope he's still alive somewhere (no book answers please!)
I thought that I was in the minority in that thought. Sure he's creepy, but there's a certain likeability to someone who does things just to create chaos (Joker from Dark Knight)
Except he's not doing things just cause chaos. He told us in Season 1 what his goal was. He wants to sit on the Iron Throne. He may have the perception of trying to cause "chaos" but everything he is doing is calculated to put him on the throne.
