So stupid to kill off one of the best characters in such a meaningless way. Game of Thrones never ceases to disappoint. The tv version is even worse than the terrible books.

I was actually pretty underwhelmed with the fight at the end until the...you know...and then it was completely awesome. Well done, HBO.

Man, I hope the good guys can get a win at least once. The whole episode was so overshadowed by the ending...I completely forgot about Arya's laugh when hearing about Lysa's death, that was one of the creepiest and revealing moments of this season. Also good to see that Sansa is finally learning to lie and manipulate Littlefinger, but that first kiss was weird enough, I hope it doesn't go any further. And Tyrion....his one hope is gone, and since the next episode is all about the Wall (which I'm still not that interested in tbh), maybe we'll find out about his fate in episode 10? Please, please please let the good guy (just one left) win this time and somehow escape (and no book reader replies please).

I normally don't mind gruesome violence at all, I've even been know to enjoy the occasional ultra-violent Japanese gorefest, like Tokyo Gore Police (great movie btw). But that final scene -- man, that seemed gross even to me. Possibly the bloodiest/most gruesome/most violent thing ever shown on prime-time American television. It seemed excessive.

Then who was that one baby who was taken to that platform where the White Walker stabbed him and turn him into a White Walker?

You think there's only one "good guy" left? To me it seems like there are plenty of them:

    Jon/Sam (definitely good guys)
Brienne (how is she not good?)
Jaime (still sometimes a jerk, but after his hand got chopped off, his heart seems in the right place most of the time)
Stannis/Davos (Davos is certainly good; Stannis may not be likable, but for the most part he's fair and just)
Daenerys (she's naive and sometimes stupid, but certainly trying to be good)
Jorah (yeah, started as a spy, but since mid-season 1 he's pretty much been a paragon of virtue)
    Bran

There are more, but you get the idea.

+1 on Tokyo Gore Police. AWESOME movie (if you're into those kind of movies).

And yes, it was probably excessive for television standards, but with it being on HBO they can get away with stuff like that. I was on board with it all the way. It saved the fight scene for me, really.

That was just some other baby from one of Craster's other wives. Gilly was long gone with Sam at that point.

The really surprising thing is that it's got 9/10 positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and actually used to have 8/8. That's not something you expect for a film like that, since it's both ultra-violent/obscene and also extremely goofy/tongue-in-cheek/just plain weird. But the critics seem to have recognized that for the type of movie it is, it just doesn't get much better than Tokyo Gore Police.

Too bad that it used to be on Netflix, but they lost it. That's where I first saw it. Now I own the DVD, and I don't often buy discs anymore.

That's true, I think I was concentrating on Kings Landing (in terms of good guys) too much, especially seeing Cersei's cruel smile after Oberyn's death. Thanks for reminding me there's still some good in the Game of Thrones world lol, although I'm sure all of them will die in some horrible brutal fashion again (this episode made me really depressed about any GOT character's chances).

The dragons are my favorite. It was a pleasure to see them growing up. Now we need to see them more often.

This season's tagline finally makes sense. Joffrey, Oberyn, the Mountain...a lot of Black Brothers next episode I guess. Theon Greyjoy is kind of dead too. (the personality anyway).

I liked the episode, although I still think the new Mountain's acting is below average, which really stands out on a show where most of the actors are great. I still miss the Mountain from Season 1, who could actually act cruel.

As someone who has known what was going to happen in the fight for years, it's awesome finally being able to talk about it with show watchers.

Loved all the scenes, especially the Bolton father-son bonding moment. It actually made me want to root for the Boltons. Great acting in all the other scenes too. Sansa's performance was really powerful. A lot of important scenes and foreshadowing happened tonight, with a lot of rewatching of tonight's episode sure to occur after certain events happen in the future.

My interpretation of the meaning of the beetle story is either 1) Beetle Morghulis (a reminder that all beetles and men must die, foreshadowing what happened to the Viper and Mountain), 2) that even a r****d like Orson wanted to feel powerful, have power over something in his world, and that not even the weak are exempt from wanting to have power over an even lesser lifeform, or 3) foreshadowing that a big stupid brute (the Mountain) would enjoy beating smaller living things to death by crushing them...

Man is a mindless killing machine and that is Game of Thrones in a nut (beetle) shell.

Over on Reddit, someone made a theory that the moron is GRRM and the crushing of beetles for no reason is him killing off characters with no rhyme or reason.

RIP Prince Oberyn...you got your confession at least.

Please no. I love this show but those damn dragons are a little too juvenile for me.
