It is funny how everyone explains that Lin, in their trade scenario will do good in the other teams play style.
Trade proposal: 1. Trade Howard for Ibaka 2. Trade Harden for Love(resigned Love to long term and near max salary) 3. Trade Asik and Lin for Melo(resigned long term for near max salary) 4. Acquire Lowery ( Can sign long term starting at 8M?) Yes, we may go into luxury tax, but it will be worth it for several rings. New Team: 1. Love 2. Ibaka (has best chance of acquiring Dream's post-up moves) 3. Melo 4. Parsons 5. Lowery. Pro's: --Definitely space the floor. This allows the offense to go thru Melo's post-up moves on a regular basis and keeps him happy. Also, opponents can not cheat off of anyone and assume who the ball will go to during end of game situations. --Rebounds covered with Love, Ibaka and even Lowery is a great rebounder. --Defense: Ibaka can almost do everything Howard can on defense, No loss on defense from trading Harden. Parsons and Lowery has great defensive potential. Also, Love, Ibaka, Melo and Parsons are capable of switching off picks. Lowery can hold his own against any elite PG. Con's: We will be giving up a traditional post presence in Howard (also, the only reason OKC would approve the trade) . However, Melo would fill the immediate role and I believe Ibaka, under Hakeem's guidance, can be as good as Howard-- with the potential of doing much more. --Only one main ego on the team. As Shane said, one donkey on the team is fine, but two or more and they start to breed. I know it is an extreme makeover, but you got to have money to make money. Also, ask yourself, is this team not much better than what we have now?
It's not so much Lin, but all the point guards, who have performed in the "Moreyball" offense relative to how they performed in conventional offenses.... Lowry, Dragic, Lin, and even Aaron Brooks have all played demonstrably better in conventional offenses. All with PERs at least 4 points higher.
According to Chad Ford of ESPN, the Sixers have "bounced around" the idea of trading point guard Michael Carter-Williams, who was named the 2013-2014 NBA Rookie of the Year earlier this month. Would you guys be intrested in MCW?
Not really. I think his stock is inflated right now, and I see him as a ball dominant player (not a good fit next to Harden).
Nope. High usage rate, shoots 40% from the field and 26% from three, and averages 3.5 turnovers. He has potential, but he's not worth anything they'll be asking.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m2mw5t2 Here's one that I'm not even sure that I like - but that looks more feasible to me than getting Melo or Love, and that will probably happen if Atlanta really doesn't want to give up Millsap. Jones, Lin to Detroit for Smith, Asik to Atlanta, Horford to Charlotte, Kidd-Gilchrist and Ridnour to Houston. Detroit gets a salary dump and a PF prospect to play next to Drummond (making Monroe more expendable). Charlotte gets a PF to play next to Jefferson- a frontcourt that can probably make some noise in the playoffs. Atlanta gets a better fit for Millsap and increased flexibility. I believe we Houston had interest in Smith before, no? He's not a perfect player by any means - but he's a very good defender and could work if we get him to buy in to our system (which might be a problem with our current coach). His contract's horrendous, but if you can't get Love, Melo, Aldrige, or Millsap - I don't see many other immediate upgrades. MKG may be bad on offense, but he's a good defensive player. We could bring him off the bench, and pray he develops into some sort of 3 and D player. Plus, I believe we tried to trade for him when he was drafted. I choose McRoberts and Haywood as mostly filer because I don't think Zeller and Biyombo fit within our limited window. Our lineup (pre-draft): Howard/Haywood Smith/McRoberts Parsons/MKG Harden/Daniels Beverly We could easily pickup a backup point guard in free agency or the draft. The thing about this deal that makes me hesitant is that Smith's big contract solidifies this as the core for better or for worse. I normally don't like big commitments, but I think Howard's at his peak now and that - if we can't get any of the 4 guys I mentioned above - we're going to have to take a gamble, lest we waste Dwight.
Right now anytime I see a Philly rumor I consider it in light of what the Rockets are trying to do by adding a 3rd superstar and what Philly is trying to do by building a young team of thoroughbreds. Asik/Lin to Philly. MCW/#10/#25 to Orlando #4 to Philly. (Philly drops Wiggins and Exum at 3 and 4.) Philly gets Lin/Exum/Wiggins/Asik/Noel with Thad Young still hanging around. Houston gets max cap space (by moving out Jones and DMo for picks if they need over $20 million). Orlando gets: MCW, #10, #25 -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- If something like this starts leaking out, I think it is the onus to get Phil Jackson and/or Flip Saunders to the table to talk serious turkey. *** The above trade could be jumbled up several different ways including sending Lin to Orlando if Orlando wanted him or substituting Jones and/or DMo for a pick or two.
This trade is terrible in that Josh Smith is horrendous and would destroy this team by jacking up and bricking three after three, but even more so because it has Atlanta giving up Horford for Asik. To get Horford would take at least Asik, Parsons, and a couple picks.
I'd do the ATL trade in a heartbeat. Millsap is a good fit next to d12 and schroder is a prospect I really like. As for the DAL trade, i'm not really feeling it.
Smith's terrible shooting not to mention MKG's terrible shooting on top of Smith. On a team that needs shooting more than anything else.
Is Conley untouchable for Memphis? With the turmoil and possibility of Zach Randolph opting out, they need some face lifting to this squad, and it wouldn't surprise me if they make some moves. Their biggest problem by far is wing scoring. What if we threw Parsons and some other pieces at them for Conley? I think he'd be a fit. Great defender, unselfish, can shoot it, and crazy quick to name a few things. This is just spit balling. Thoughts? Anybody have a better idea? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k6tr4az
Maybe some sort of three way deal? Houston in: Mike Conley, Mason Plumlee Memphis in: Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lin, Phoenix #18 pick Phoenix in: Omer Asik
Let's say Melo doesn't work out but you could trade Asik, DMo, to the Celtics for nothing and sign Lowry.... Would folks then be okay with a Lin for Larry Sanders swap. Fits a need for both teams greatly helps out the defense as a backup C, essentially he's your Asik replacement. So in summation Lin, Asik, Dmo for Lowry and Sanders?
