Living in San Antonio, I can say no nfl team would survive here. Spurs are priority #1. They would always be in the shadow of the Spurs.

Probably. Good thread, this question has been on my mind for months now.

Here's another question that torments me: would you trade Latvia for Bravos + 500 unsullied?

    Two different actions

I would welcome though because I am not a fan

First - dissolve the Spurs or move them to another city, change their name, change everything

Second - try to gather investors and engange in negotiations about buying an NFL franchise

This post is disgusting, I live in SA and hate it here along with the moronic Vato Loco fans who know nothing about basketball. This is a horrid sports town who thrives on a Spurs franchise who may no longer exist within the next 5 years and HS baseball. This thread really upsets me as this is a Rockets site and not an SA site. Please Clutch take this down ASAP.

They should put a franchise and stadium halfway between Austin and San Antonio and see what happens.

Most everyone in san antonio likes the Cowboys and to a smaller extent the Texans.

This is a good question. There is no doubt football would thrive there(UTSA draws excitement) but, i dont think at the cost of the spurs. I think people there would rather have the Spurs since they have been great for so long.

It's tricky, but maybe I don't understand the direction of the question here. I'm assuming, I could trade the Spurs for ownership of an NFL team that already exists somewhere else. So I'm taking the question as put to a high-roller owner or ownership group.

I think the Spurs are at peak value, with the end of the Pop-Duncan era soon approaching. (I know we've said that for a while, but if you're thinking of a long-term investment, the Spurs are only going to go down hill in the mid-to-long term.)

But meanwhile, the NFL could also be near peak value. With this head trauma trouble and necessary rule changes coming down the pipeline in the next decade or so, who knows what the value of an NFL franchise might be in 10 years.

Really tough call. But if it's just a one-for-one trade, of course you do that, since the avg. NFL team, even a crappy one like the Raiders, stands to make you more money than a good basketball team in San Antonio ever will. (Or that's what I think, without looking up the numbers right now.)

You're the man heyp, but this is a weird question on a forum where there is maybe a handful of Spurs fans.

People who said no don't want the Rockets to win the division.

I was putting myself in a Spursfan shoes.

But this is a basketball forum so it's probably biased.

So what was actual result of the poll. I think when I was in SA I heard more cowboys talk than spurs talk.

No city in Texas, I don't care how good the NBA franchise is, would take an NBA team over an NFL team, period.

San Antonio is just like Houston, and we see the monolithic presence the Texans have across houston media, regardless of their record.

Polls like this are always skewed because it's and NBA forum.

Well in terms of money, NFL teams are worth a lot more so of course I'd go for that. If they'd let me I will then buy the Spurs back and then do it all again.

Serious note, I don't watch NFL so no ;)
