Ooh rezdawg you are a dentist? After posting last night I went to bed. I must say it was one of the most painful nights of my life. I woke up with little to no signs of infection. Yes I can still feel it a bit sensitive but the pain is gone and I'm literally exhausted from pain. Came to work but still feel lightheaded and dizzy after trying so much medicine. I know I need a dentist to take care of this. If only I can will myself to go to your office I would be proud of myself. Can you pm me office info? First time I'm realistically considering getting this taken care of. I just need a patient Dentist because I'm a mess .... Thank You soo much Rezdawg.......
Thank You soo much BamBam... I really appreciate it. Didn't think anyone would care last night haha and I couldn't stay on computer any more due to pain... But thank You! Rep Incoming!
After almost a couple a weeks using Sensadyne and the purple mouthwash, the sensitivity in the tooth seems to have mostly gone away. However, I'm afraid I'm just covering up the problem and will have to deal with something worse in the future. If it indeed is the enamel thinning, will this need to be addressed eventually? I've been pay attention to my chewing habits and the bottom teeth do not come in contact with my top front teeth at all, nor when I just bite down normally, so I'm starting to question if it's related to that. Could it just be wear and tear from my diet (sugar, etc)?
Sensodyne and mouthwash arent able to cover up major issues...they basically help if there is any sensitivity related to enamel thinning, gum recession, etc... Next time you go in for a cleaning, have them focus on that tooth to see if they find anything. From the sound of it, I wouldnt worry too much about it yet.
Paging rezdawg. Rezdawg, I need your help brotha. I think I might have a reinfected tooth post root canal. I just noticed I have some swelling on my gum, I wouldn't say right above the tooth but it's kinda far up, not sure how to explain it. Would probably prefer to have it extracted since I wouldn't want to deal with a reinfection later.
Rezdawg, can you give me a quote on wisdom teeth procedure? My sister doesn't have any insurance and she's feeling a lot of pain and discomfort.
Depends on the positioning of them and if an oral surgeon needs to be used. Oral surgeon pretty much requires sedation, so that's where the cost rises a bit. On average, 4 wisdom teeth with sedation is somewhere in the neighborhood of $1800-2200. Pretty expensive.
Dang, just noticed this…did we ever talk on direct message? Ive talked to so many people on here that I don't remember if I ever addressed this. Sorry if I didn't, hope you got it cleared up.
Thanks for the info. She'll be graduating college this fall so I'm hoping she can hold out a bit longer until she gets a job and can get some insurance. I don't think it's too bad right now but better to take care of it before it gets worse.
I had sex once with a toothache, thinking it would take my mind off it, but oh my god, that was some of the worst pain ever as the sex inflamed it 10x. Best relief was surprisingly a long bath.
Wisdom tooth discomfort will come and go...like a cycle. She might feel the pain for a few days and then be okay for the following month. So, if it's a situation where she'll be getting insurance at some point, then it would save her about $1200-1500 by holding out.
No real opinion other than I guess it cant hurt? The fact that it takes about a month for any positive signs of gum health to show tell me that it's definitely slow acting...so, even if it can help, it's probably at a minimal amount. Brushing, flossing, and mouthwash should do the trick though. And an electric toothbrush far outperforms a standard toothbrush. If you've got those things in your favor, then something like Periobalance doesnt bring much benefit, imo.
is remineralization of teeth possible? if not why do mouthwashes say that on the label? I'm going to need implants on three teeth. I should have stayed away from the meth! I'm kidding some medication i took over the years reduced saliva count and made considerable damage. =/
I don't know your circumstances, but why don't you and others in your family pitch in and help her out? She's your sister after all. If the wisdom teeth are coming out at an angle, her other teeth could become crooked as a result. Some dental offices will provide financing as well. Also, how does she not have insurance? You're required by law to have it now. She didn't sign up for Obamacare? You can purchase dental insurance on there when you sign up. If she's in school, she could be eligible for medical and dental coverage through the college/university as well.
Yes, remineralization is possible. Now, if you have a deep cavity, remineralization does nothing. However, if the superficial surface of enamel is breaking down due to a cavity, then fluoride will help remineralize the surface.
