This only means it will be the worst year in history.

One of the down sides of living in Houston. I'm weary every year. Hurricane season doesn't end until Nov.

This year's hurricane season will be affected by possibly the strongest El Nino in recorded history. If you want to make a guess on what this year's hurricane season will be like, look at the 1997 Atlantic hurricane season: 8 tropical storms, 3 hurricanes, 1 major hurricane. Also, no storms formed in August in 1997. Disclaimer: no two hurricane seasons are exactly alike, but 1997 and 2014 have the potential to be very similar.

Not if you're trading energy futures on them.

I think more for TX if the El Nino really cranks up. At least, more for west TX.

Of course, after all the b****ing about drought, I was just flying over west TX and had the most tubulent flight I can remember because of all the freaking storm cells. Like, I really needed the lap belt for once.

5 named storms and one major hurricane

Lack of hurricanes and major hurricanes due to wind shear suppresion by El Nino or something. Yo.

I forget all about hurricane season until a hurricane is actually in the Gulf, or threatening the East Coast.
