Really? That's kinda lame, Jarvis is going to be the reason all the Avengers get together again? Some robot butler? Idk, my lack of comic-book knowledge really makes me wonder about this. But then again, Marvel's made some pretty silly ideas turn into gold these last couple years.
Lol, no. Spoiler The thought is Jarvis becomes self aware (if he isn't already), decides that humanity is the issue after all of these "wars", and either a) takes over an iron man suit and becomes Ultron, b) Jarvis creates Ultron, c) someone creates the "body" and he takes over it. Either way the point is Ultron continually learns every time he fights the Avengers (which is quite a few times, and the Avengers beat him each time), and each time he comes back stronger finally resulting in Age of Ultron where he wins and takes over the universe (our version of it that is).
Premiere date moved to July 17th, 2015. Some updates: Now that filming for The Avengers: Age of Ultron is in full swing across the globe, Marvel Studios is gearing up for production next month on its "Phase Three" launcher, Ant-Man, in Atlanta, Georgia. According to the ever-reliable Deadline, the latest name attached to the Edgar Wright-directed adaptation is Matt Gerald. Best known for his roles in Avatar, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Showtime's Dexter, the actor will apparently play "one of the bad guys," but his character may be already established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Matt Gerald played 'White Power Dave' opposite Sir Ben Kingsley in the Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King, which featured on Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray. However, the casting report fails to acknowledge Gerald's minor role in the short film. Therefore, it is unknown if he will play the same character in Ant-Man. Anyhow, Matt Gerald joins an ever-growing cast that so far includes Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Corey Stoll, with Patrick Wilson and Michael Douglas. Directed by Edgar Wright from his screenplay, which he co-wrote with Joe Cornish, Ant-Man is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
agreed. its not just that Wright would of been awesome, but how can they get a director in a few months who has cool ideas on how to shoot an ant-man action scene? The one posted at the beginning of this thread looked unique and fun. They will get some generic director who won't try anything interesting. I have very little confidence in this film now.
Ant-man...? Tsk, tsk.... they missed the boat on that one... It clearly should've been... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/NhMtbEjszA4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It takes a little while. In the case of Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers, they weren't released on Netflix Streaming until 9 months after the DVD release, or roughly a year (maybe a little longer) after its theatrical release.
I'm a fan of Edgar Wright, but he started working on this in 2006. Since then, Marvel developed their strategy of having all their movies take place in the same universe and being connected. The version of Ant Man that Wright was planning was not going to jive with that. Marvel had some in house writers rewrite the script to try and make it fit their film universe, but Wright and Cornish did not agree with the changes and wanted off. I truly believe that because of sticking with Wright for 8 years on this project, Marvel had to cut Henry Prym(Ant Man) and Janet Van Dyne(The Wasp) out of the Avengers because in Wright's movie Pym was going to be played by Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd was going to be the Scott Lang version of Ant Man. This is why they changed the origin of Ultron from being a creation of Pym's to a creation of Tony Stark and Ultron being JARVIS. I blame Marvel in so much as they should have either made this movie in 2006 and then let it be it's own stand alone thing or making it clear with Edgar what they wanted out of this movie and seeing if he was willing to do it that way.
I figured I throw this in here even though its not important to ant-man <iframe src="//player.vimeo.com/video/96558506?badge=0&color=f0a400" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe> <p><a href="http://vimeo.com/96558506">Edgar Wright - How to Do Visual Comedy</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/tonyzhou">Tony Zhou</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>
Peyton Reed now directing Some generic director who won't try anything interesting? sounds about right. I'm completely uninterested in this movie now.
